Then, meanings would not be expressed. If that were the case, the expressions that represent the meanings of the world, such as worldly codes, Vedic scriptures, and other non-Buddhist scriptures, as well as the Buddha's words and commentaries that explain the three vehicles of the inner path, would all cease to exist, because names and words would not be able to express meanings. If you say that even without these, each person can understand their meanings on their own, that is not correct. Because sentient beings in the world, regarding their own aggregates, elements, and sense bases, as well as the philosophical tenets that they do not possess, if there is no teacher to guide them, they cannot understand them on their own. Similarly, even if the rules of prefixes and suffixes of letters exist in the minds of all speakers, they cannot understand the true nature of the meaning expressed through its own inherent characteristics. If you do not investigate the meaning, how can you know how to combine it in accordance with the meaning? You cannot know. Therefore, thinking that the above fault should not occur, the Lord of Speech (Manjushri) said: May all subsequent learners realize these! This is what was said. This commentary on the 'Entrance to the Nature of Letters' of Grammar, which clearly explains the meaning with concise words, was written by the wise Sonam Senge, relying on the good explanations of previous wise individuals, for the benefit of himself and others. Whatever merit is obtained from accomplishing this, may all beings attain the wisdom of Manjushri! Auspicious! Auspicious! Auspicious! The commentary on 'Entrance to the Nature of Letters' is completed.
