If the precept is violated, a downfall is incurred. 4. Regarding repairing a needle case: The basis is "also," and the specific combination is "doing it?" etc. The subsequent action is "after breaking," that is, using materials such as teeth, bones (46b), horns, and jewels that are rare and precious in that place and time to repair the needle case completely, a downfall is incurred. When confessing this downfall, ask "Was the needle case broken?" 5. Regarding repairing bed legs: The basis is the permitted measure "also," and the excess is "from that," that is, for a monastic bed or small bed, from the hole where the leg is inserted, one cubit is the standard. If it exceeds this standard, making it yourself or having someone else make it, and ultimately exceeding the standard, a downfall is incurred. If sitting on a personal high seat, a misdeed is committed. When confessing the four excesses of bed legs, cushions, borders, and large cloths, if you do not ask the confessor whether they have been cut, a misdeed is committed. 6. Regarding making new clothes with tree cotton: The basis is "also," the combination is "spreading it?" and the subsequent action is "after collecting," that is, for a monastic dwelling, using tree cotton yourself or having someone else make it, and ultimately making clothes, a downfall is incurred. If it is for an individual, a misdeed is committed. When confessing this, the tree cotton needs to be collected. 7. Regarding cushions: The basis is the permitted measure "bhikshu," and the excess and subsequent action is "from that," that is, the standard for a cushion is three cubits in length, that is, two cubits and six fingers. If the length is not enough, add half a cubit. 8. Regarding borders: The basis is "of a bhikshu," and the excess and subsequent action is "from that," that is, the length of the border is six cubits, and the width is three cubits. 9. Regarding large cloths: The basis is the permitted measure "of a bhikshu," and the excess is "from that," that is, the length of the large cloth is nine cubits, and the width is three cubits and eighteen fingers. 10. Regarding the measure of the Sugata's Dharma robe: The basis and combination is "bhikshu," and the permitted measure is "from that" (47a), that is, the measure of the Buddha's upper robe and monastic robe is that the length is five cubits of the Buddha himself, and the width is three cubits. Each cubit of the Buddha is equivalent to three cubits of an average person, so one Dharma robe of the Buddha is equivalent to nine Dharma robes of an average person. Therefore, if you do not have a body as tall as the Buddha's, but you make a Dharma robe that is the same size as or larger than the Buddha's Dharma robe, a downfall is incurred. The concluding words of the recitation are "Venerable," and
