The Supreme Path of Great Bliss Dharma: The Method of Applying Transference for the Deceased, called the Swift Path to Liberation. The Supreme Path of Great Bliss Dharma: The Method of Applying Transference for the Deceased, called the Swift Path to Liberation. From the Supreme Path of Great Bliss Dharma: Herein lies the Swift Path to Liberation, the method of applying transference for the deceased. Namo Guru Amitabha! In the past, there was a virtuous monk, a supreme son of the Victorious Ones, known as the Source of Dharma. When he attended upon the Victorious Lord of the World, Avalokiteśvara, he made aspirations that were fulfilled, attaining Limitless Life. The glory of his body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities, and his deeds and activities, are inconceivable. Therefore, from the inconceivable methods of taming beings to be subdued, this is the path to liberation for the benefit of others. This is a profound instruction for forcibly attaining Buddhahood for those with great sins, the secret instruction of the profound path of transference (phowa). This has three points: preliminaries, main practice, and conclusion. The first has two parts: how to give the transference transmission, and the order of recitation. First, the transference transmission should be done immediately after the deceased has ceased breathing. If a long time has passed since death, the consciousness has been extracted and has finished wandering as a ghost. It can be accomplished through scripture and reasoning. However, some believe that the consciousness remains in the body for three days, which are considered meditation days by many wise and accomplished masters, and this should be remembered. Even so, the consciousness can be summoned to the body, which is the basis of the deceased's habitual imprints, and rituals such as purification, bathing, empowerment, guidance, and transference can be performed. Since this is the case, why can't transference be done in the same way? Just as one can write the name on a nameplate and perform the transference ritual. Therefore, if one is inclined to apply the profound path of transference immediately after death, or even if not, if it is done in conjunction with a bathing ritual, then this instruction should be placed at the beginning of whatever ritual is being performed. Otherwise, just the transference transmission is sufficient. For the recitation, visualize oneself as any chosen deity, or especially as Great Compassion, and from the heart, radiate rays of loving-kindness in the shape of an iron hook, as swift as a wisp of cloud. By merely touching the consciousness of the deceased, wherever it may be in the seven realms, in an instant, summon it and dissolve it into the body, inseparable. Visualize this in your mind. Homage to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions and three times, the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, the Three Roots, the peaceful and wrathful deities, the Dharma Protectors, the oath-bound ones, the ocean of Dharma, the unchanging nature, the infallible interdependence, and the power and strength of the great truth.

Through the blessings of, and especially through the truth of the body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities of the Bhagavan, the Protector Amitabha, and through the power and strength of the vast aspirations and prayers of all the victorious ones, may the consciousness of the deceased, who has passed beyond the time of life from this world to the next, be drawn instantly, no matter where it is in the suffering realms of samsara, inseparably into this support of aggregates! Hrih Akarshaya Dza! Repeat as many times as possible. Dza Hum Bam Hoh! Contemplate that it has become like water poured into water, and rests comfortably with joy and respect. The method of separating from the executioner is: After purifying with a key, bell, censer, etc., recite: Om Sarva Vignam Nama Sarva Tathagata Bhyo Bhi Sho Mukham Bhya... Turn the key clockwise three times, then recite: Om Sumbhani Sumbha... etc. After turning the bell and censer counterclockwise three times, throw them outside with the power of truth, fierce mantras, and the intimidation of musical instruments, separating from the flesh-eating demons and the executioner. To prevent the executioner from entering again, visualize a protective wheel. Protect by reciting Vajra Raksha Raksha Hum! Then take refuge: Visualize in the sky in front, the supports and supported of Sukhavati in the west, clear like a rainbow in the sky. Recite: Namo From now until enlightenment, May I and all sentient beings of the six realms of samsara, Take refuge in the assembly of deities of the Protector Amitabha. I take refuge with body, speech, and mind with reverence! Repeat three times, etc., as much as possible. Second, generating the mind of enlightenment: Ho! For the beings of the six realms and five degenerations, without beginning or end, To establish them in the state of Amitabha, Generate the supreme mind of aspiration and action for enlightenment, And meditate on the profound yoga of transference. Repeat three times as before. Third, the seven-branch practice: Namo I emanate my body into as many particles as there are oceans, And prostrate to the immortal Protector Amitabha! I offer all the actual offerings and mind-created offerings, Immeasurable in number, To the assembly of deities of the blissful realm! I confess all the sins, obscurations, faults, and downfalls Of my body, speech, and mind, With intense remorse! I rejoice from the heart in all the accumulations of merit Gathered by the two truths! According to the inclinations of beings to be tamed,
