Having abandoned faults such as the strong clinging to duality that is inseparable from attention, as well as clinging to extremely solid objects as supreme, and not allowing the mind to be calm with various artificial behaviors, may the three of view, meditation, action, and result be liberated from the dangers of obstacles and deviations, and may the vast and continuous activities of boundless actions become the glory of beings! Thus, I offer a prayer for the spontaneous accomplishment of both self and other's benefits. This is called "The Treasury of Excellent Qualities, the Rain of Joy." At the request of Latö Chöje Drakphukpa, it was composed in the glorious Lotus Light Continent by Rangjung Dorje Khyentse Özer, a Great Perfection practitioner whose crown was touched by the dust of the feet of the Second Buddha, Padmasambhava. Here it is said: The Bodhisattva Manjushri of the ten bhumis, for the sake of taming beings, came to the kingdom of Tibet and invited many Indian paṇḍitas such as Abbot Shantarakshita and Padmasambhava, making the teachings of sutra and tantra like the orb of the sun and moon, becoming a friend who dispels the darkness of the border regions. This is like the Buddha appearing in the world. Therefore, remembering their kindness, I pray. That great Dharma King, an emanation of the noble one, again deliberately took hold of human power, known as the great vidyādhara Jikme Lingpa, actually meeting Orgyen Drime Özer, making the early translation teachings shine with a million rays of light. In this Tibet, because of the clouds that thickened in the later dissemination of the Dharma, they were obscured and could not be revealed. With the wind of past aspirations, he dispelled the obscuring mists of the sky, and the light of the Great Perfection blazed forth, and at the same time that the great lotus garden of the Nyingma teachings blossomed, he spread the fragrant scent of the tenets of the tradition. Therefore, open the vast treasury of the Dharma of sutra and tantra, the door to the treasury of precious qualities, and give this inexhaustible treasure to the fortunate assembly of followers. This act will undoubtedly be the lifeblood of the teachings. However, the yellow-robed ones of the degenerate age are distracted from listening, contemplating, and meditating, and they confuse the meaning of words. They are reluctant to abandon such excellent texts, and fools, for the sake of ease, compose with the minds of children, and although they are not the same, they ask with evil minds, presuming to be protected by the three pure jewels.

Although the eye consciousness enters into objects without limit, I have taken words from others and composed this. Although there were some who wished to study this text before, most of them did not seek its meaning even after studying it. To eliminate the faults of not studying, or of not reaching the end even after studying, I have exerted diligence. The one who increases the writing of the two letters is called Damden Kunsang Phuntsok. May the virtuous merit of diligently writing this become a cause for benefiting all the teachings and beings. Good! Good! Good! Sarva Mangalam! (梵文:Sarva Mangalam,All auspiciousness!) Chapter Thirteen
