Chapter Three. Chapter Three. Thus, those who have reached the next world, by the power of karma, whether they are bound by any of the six realms of beings, are approached solely by the magnitude of the habit of practicing virtue or committing evil in this life. The Victorious Ones have said that the truth of conventional dependent origination is infallible. Whatever seeds are gathered, just as the farmers initially reveal them. Yes, the so-called next life, from the beginning until now, has created various high and low states of beings through the accumulation of various karmas familiar and accustomed to good and evil. The high land, that is, the soaring garuda in the sky, is the majority of birds. Even if their shadows are not visible for a moment, just as the tangible bird itself and the shadow are inseparable, when gathered and the time is ripe, when landing at the so-called place, the shadow becomes more apparent. Non-virtuous deeds, such as the horse-faced fire, can dry up the merit that is the cause of birth as gods and humans, as well as the corresponding roots of virtue, the waves of the heavenly ocean. Moreover, the precious human body, the basis for attaining the state of omniscient Buddhahood, is like a ship, and the metaphor and meaning of destroying it are as stated in the Sutra, the Hundred and the Extensive Rolapa. Beings cast by non-virtuous causes, the terrors of the evil realms, who are extremely brave and resilient in enduring suffering, the place where the warriors with the arms of the ten virtues as armor dwell, are struck by the arrows of war, that is, the military camp of the evil realms has not been established. All violations of vows are because of actions that violate the three vows, and these have become under your control, accompanied by refutation. Therefore, regarding the types of protective vows, there are general errors in acceptance and rejection. Some pursue discipline and things that harm others, some give up life and life, some violate their own vows, some create causes for asceticism and disturbing the region, accumulating many non-virtuous deeds, some postpone practicing Dharma, some lose wealth, some consider their own face, and some consider the faces of others.

For those who have a sense of shame, they do not feel ashamed, nor do they think about the causes for abandoning vows, etc. In most cases, guarding vows is for the sake of creating sin. Because in order to protect one's own guru, objects of offering, relatives, retinues, etc., as well as the territories of high-ranking officials, etc., they will drink the powerful wine of sin, just like wrapping a wheel with sharp blades around the trunk of a mad elephant. No one can share the ripening karmic results except for the one who is the doer of that action. Whether in worldly or Dharma matters, they are greedy for obtaining wealth, etc., with strong attachment, and only crave for the means of their own happiness. Similarly, whether it is oneself or others, they readily accept hearing pleasant words, and upon hearing praise, their arrogance increases and they become conceited. In contrast to this, the opposite of the previous four situations, namely, not obtaining, being unhappy, being unpleasant, and being slandered, etc., these children who disguise non-Dharma as Dharma with slander, are deceived by the eight worldly dharmas. That is to say, due to the superiority of lineage, appearance, power, youth, and learning, etc., they elevate themselves out of arrogance. They do not strive to do good and abandon evil, but spend their time lazily, like a lame person, who is not fit for any work by himself or others, and is concealed by faults. Manifest arrogance refers to the arrogance caused by what others have seen and heard, which arouses bad emotions, and they become ascetics, that is, rakshasas who hate the merits of the three vows, and if it is greed and hatred, then that is their cause and condition. The so-called "dryness" refers to being greedy for the wealth of others, and being very stingy with one's own wealth due to attachment. This powerful force will prevent offerings, etc., and being suppressed by the power of stinginess, using cunning vines to confuse others, although they are good at protecting themselves, the great harm that hinders liberation and omniscience has entered their own domain. In samsara, there are two types of actions and their results, white and black. Even from a small seed, a large and mature fruit can grow.
