Teachings from Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo - MP303 - Texts Conferred by Omniscient Manjushri Guru: The Five Blue Lotuses and Five Swords Texts Conferred by Omniscient Manjushri Guru: The Five Blue Lotuses and Five Swords Homage! Here begins the explanation of the texts 'The Five Blue Lotuses' and 'The Five Swords' conferred by the Omniscient Manjushri Guru. The Utpala (blue lotus) of Supreme Accomplishment: Clearly demonstrates how the Tathāgata (Sanskrit, tathāgata, 'one who has thus come') embodies the wisdom that pervades all knowable objects; this is the secret of the body. Now begins the explanation of how to accomplish the secret of the Tathāgata's body - the Utpala of Supreme Accomplishment. From whom all Buddhas of the three times arise, The Buddha who has neither beginning nor end. The primordial Buddha who arises without cause, Possessing a wisdom body, to you I prostrate. The one known as the Tathāgata, Whose body is the Sambhogakaya, Nirmanakaya, and Svabhavikakaya (enjoyment, emanation and nature bodies). Immeasurable, possessing the four bodies, etc., Always abiding in the true meaning. Since appearances are impermanent, Are these the same or different? If they are the same, then the body of the Sugata (Sanskrit, sugata, 'gone to bliss', one of the ten epithets of a Buddha), Has particles and is subject to temporal change. How then can it be a Vajra body? If abandoning delusion, Then immeasurable qualities are also invisible. If it does not remain in equanimity, How can the wisdom of the two Kalachakras be realized? For sentient beings who have appearances, And for the wisdom that is non-dual, The intelligence that arises from it, How can the form of the body, etc., be seen? Is this merely to tame those to be subdued, By engaging in worldly activities, Appearing as permanent and impermanent? In reality, non-dual wisdom is The equanimity of samsara and nirvana. Body and mind are integrated, Being equanimous in all directions and times, Dharma and Dharmata (the nature of dharma) are non-dual. Knower and known are inseparable, Remaining unmoving from the Dharmadhatu (the realm of dharma), Therefore, the ultimate Tathāgata is Known as the wisdom Vajra body. Dharmadhatu and wisdom are inseparable, the pure body. The ultimate state, free from increase and decrease. Therefore, Kalachakra and the tantras, etc., Base and result are inseparable. Practicing this method, all dharmas, Are equanimous, through the two truths, Practice extensively in a non-dual manner. Otherwise, the body of perfect enlightenment, Will be seen as compounded and subject to change. This has countless faults. Furthermore, the result of the Mahayana, Has inconceivable qualities. Mind and secrets are inconceivable. If realized, corresponding qualities are attained. Therefore, even though inconceivable, Appearances are like jewels. Activities are constant and pervasive, The play of body, speech, and mind, etc., All phenomena, Are divisions of dualistic dharmas, Divisions of particles and momentary changes, Do not exist in their essence. Therefore, it is constant, immeasurable, And non-dual. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Without dwelling in forms, sounds, smells, tastes, tactile objects, or mental objects, abide in the correct path. Those who see me in form, or seek me in sound, those people walk on a false path, they cannot see the Tathāgata. The Buddhas have Dharma as their body, the guides regard Dharmatā (法性) as the root. Dharmatā cannot be fully known, therefore it cannot be completely understood. Since there is no division of arising, ceasing, and changing, it is regarded as constant. Since there is no division of dust and direction, its essence pervades everything. Without movement and action, this is naturally accomplished. The essence is clear and empty, without distinction, beyond all names and concepts. Constant and impermanent, pervasive and non-pervasive, naturally accomplished and not naturally accomplished, etc., although all do not exist. However, this way of being is accomplished by Dharmatā. If measured with wisdom using the conceptual notions of duality, there is no such thing as impermanence, etc. If a standard of measurement is established in a reverse manner, then it can be called constant, etc. The Sugata (善逝) possesses all qualities, in an unparalleled and immeasurable way, the essence is naturally accomplished. If this body performs limitless deeds for the benefit of beings, it does not contradict the nature of constancy, just like Īśvara (自在天). Īśvara is the only truth, the cause of all things, but there is no definite evidence to compare it to this. Here, all dharmas are the essence, and equality is achieved because of emptiness. Equality is free from all places and times, without decrease or increase. In the Dharmadhātu (法界) that is free from dualistic grasping, who can guide me and Īśvara? All these qualities are naturally accomplished and abide here. It cannot be measured in sequence or simultaneously, like the essence of the moon. It can be reflected in various water vessels, although the essence is naturally accomplished. However, if all water vessels exist simultaneously, then the moon's reflection will also appear simultaneously. However, it is impossible for all things arising from causes and conditions to exist simultaneously. Therefore, it is known that its appearance occurs sequentially. Likewise, the appearance of sentient beings, because it has change and fabrication. Therefore, it is impossible to appear simultaneously, it should be known that it occurs sequentially. The unchanging nature is free from sequence and simultaneity, and abides in equality. One who has gone like Dharmatā is called Tathāgata. The unsurpassed fruit is manifested like Dharmatā. It should be known that there is no other method outside of this teaching. The followers of internal and external paths try to prove that the Sugata is impermanent in the way of cause and effect. However, according to the way of appearance, it can also be established. With the profound Dharmatā and the discriminating wisdom of subsequent attainment, the assertion of constancy, etc., can be denied. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
