The Commentary on the Vajra Knot of Aspiration Homage to the Guru! Although reality is utterly pacified from all elaborations of characteristics, May the Lord of Mandalas, Manjushri the Hero, protect this world By the magical dance of unceasing wisdom, Bestowing the supreme benefit and happiness upon limitless beings. When the pure and virtuous substance, like the essence of iron, Is seized by the essence of skillful means and accomplishment, It becomes the treasure of the four bodies of liberation; Therefore, striving in this supreme aspiration is supremely meaningful. Here, what is the extraordinary means by which any root of virtue ripens into unsurpassed enlightenment, is not exhausted by opposing forces, and increases from higher to higher? It is to dedicate fully and expand through aspiration. Although there are countless types of aspiration, here I will explain a little of the structure of the king of aspirations, which is connected to the profound and vast subject matter of the three inner tantras. It has three parts: invoking witnesses for the dedication, indicating the root of virtue to be dedicated, and the actual dedication. First: 'Guru, Yidam, assembly of deities, please consider.' This means: all the root three deities, the gurus of the three lineages, the peaceful and wrathful yidams, and also the heroes, dakinis, and vajra dharma protectors, like an opened sesame pod, all present as if directly visible, please consider me with your unobstructed wisdom. Second, 'The virtue accomplished by diligence here and now, the virtues accumulated and existing in the three times, combined,' means: the virtue arising from diligently practicing the two stages of yoga with reverence and constancy here and now, and all the virtues accumulated by oneself in the three times represented by this, and also the virtues that are not accumulated by oneself but exist in the minds of other sentient beings, all gathered together in one place in the mind, this is the virtue to be dedicated. Some might think, 'One's own present virtue is present, and then it speaks of the three times, so how is the present to be identified?' First, the virtue being practiced in the present is the main thing mentioned, and what is not included in that is included in the source of the other three times, so there is a difference in speaking from the general vastness to the particular, so it is not a repetition. Others might think that if the virtues of the past and present have not been destroyed by opposing forces, they can be dedicated, but the future... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If one thinks that merits such as those of the land are unreasonable because they do not exist now, like a rabbit's horn, then there is no contradiction in a Bodhisattva's skillful intention to transform all objects of focus into the path of great enlightenment. If one thinks, 'May all the actions of my three gates in the future be for the sake of liberating all sentient beings,' even though one's own future actions of the three gates and the sentient beings who will benefit from them do not exist now, by the power of the mind, thinking in this way can benefit future sentient beings. This is the special characteristic of a Bodhisattva's wisdom. Third, dedicating for the sake of the ultimate result: dedicating for the sake of the temporary path; dedicating for the sake of the Dharma and the benefit of beings. The first is: 'Dedicating to the Great Unsurpassed Enlightenment.' If one dedicates for the sake of such virtues, it is not seeking merely the status of gods and humans, not dedicating for the sake of high status, nor is it for the sake of the one-sided goal of personal peace, but dedicating to the ultimate result to be attained, the Great Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Enlightenment, dedicating solely for the sake of attaining the omniscient wisdom. Second, there are four: dedicating to the basis of the path; dedicating to the path itself; dedicating to the function of the path; dedicating to the cause of accomplishment; dedicating to the completion of the conducive conditions of the path. First: 'From now until reaching the heart of enlightenment, may I be of noble birth, clear intellect, without arrogance, great compassion, possessing reverence for the Lama, and firmly abiding in the glorious Vajra Vehicle.' From this time forward, until reaching the heart of enlightenment and manifesting enlightenment, may I have the noble lineage of fully awakening the supreme vehicle, becoming as precious as gold; may I have the clear intellect capable of understanding the secret path of the supreme vehicle; may I be without the arrogance that hinders the arising of qualities in my own mind; may my mind be filled with great compassion that never abandons sentient beings; may I, with unwavering reverence for the qualified Lama who is the root of the path, easily accomplish the two benefits or the two kinds of accomplishments; may I abide in the indestructible non-dual wisdom like a vajra, with the path that carries and joins this wisdom, which is known as the Vajra Vehicle. As will be explained below, possessing the qualities of maturing through empowerment, etc., merely entering the form of mantra... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
