Those who deceive themselves, whose thoughts flow continuously, chasing after illusory notions, and do not cultivate the right path, it is impossible for their minds to naturally turn away from delusion. Just as illusionists understand illusionary spells and so on, transforming false illusory elephants, deceiving those beings who are deluded like illusions. And like dreams that deceive the mind, the happiness in dreams is fleeting, while painful dreams cause one to sink. The various dream experiencers are truly pitiable! Unable to comprehend this boundless and supreme path, they abandon it, instead regarding the paths of extremists and others as the right path, and proclaiming, 'This is the true path.' Those who proclaim this are like pointing at a stone and saying it is gold, truly deserving of compassion, objects of compassion. The hearts of the lords of compassion are involuntarily moved by compassion, just as people's hearts are involuntarily attracted to beautiful things. Those who possess compassion, their minds are also attracted by compassion. Those who have not thoroughly purified their minds with wisdom, those five hundred born in the degenerate age, they study the pure and undefiled, difficult-to-understand teachings of the Tathagata in an incorrect way, unable to understand the Buddha's words as they are spoken, nor to understand their meaning as it is. They are like searching for gold in a dark room, not understanding the order and meaning of the words, only clinging to the surface of the text. Although unable to fathom the profound truth, they speculate wildly according to their own understanding, and are deluded by various personal prejudices. Their minds are overwhelmed by the water of ignorance, and they are far from the essence of the Tathagata's teachings—the nectar-like true teachings, and the yoga of appropriate attention. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This supreme path, the profound secret of the minds of all the Buddhas, to realize everything as it is, is the realm of experience of the minds of the Buddhas, not a common realm. Although I, Jamyang Khyentse ( 'jam dpal bshes gnyen, Manjushri Friend, Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo's signature on this scripture ), do not know it completely, this profound meaning of the secret is due to the power of the master's own long-term familiarity, in a way that does not contradict the scriptures and oral instructions, and is diligently explained by measuring with correct reasoning. For the benefit of sentient beings, the supreme path of proclaiming the non-dual Bodhicitta is the footprint of the Buddhas of the three times, which is briefly and concisely explained. With this aspiration, may all beings in samsara, even for a moment, not be shaken by wrong thoughts, may all beings realize the essence of the minds of the Buddhas, and may it grow in their minds. (3) The ending signature: Bodhicitta practice 'Turning Stone into Gold', Jamyang Khyentse extracted it from the Great Perfection Tantra and completed it. This is concise and meaningful. Profound and vast, it is the Dharma treasury of the Buddhas, the essence of the essence, the effortless vehicle, the Great Perfection for the sharp-witted to be liberated in one lifetime, the footprint of the Vidyadharas, this is rare. The nature of Samantabhadra's Bodhicitta, which attains Buddhahood in the equality of all dharmas, the definitive meaning of the unerring manifestation, this is the secret treasury of the minds of the Buddhas. Therefore, the essence of the oral instructions of the Vidyadhara lineage, whoever is connected with it can rest in the primordial Buddha land, and the activities that will not decay even at the end of the kalpa, in order to promote this, my aspiration is comparable to the light of the autumn moon. Even so, my wisdom is obscured by ignorance, if there is any offense to the good treatises of the saints and scholars, may I confess it together with the sins of lifetimes, and pray for the blessing of purification. May this diligent virtue cause the immaculate doctrine of the supreme Great Perfection to flourish to the end of the world, may all beings, self and others, enter this supreme path, and may the truth of the Dharma nature of the holy path protect it. This commentary on 'Bodhicitta Practice Turning Stone into Gold' - 'The Lamp of Sole Clarity', was written by Omniscient Lama Rinpoche Mipham Rinpoche (mi pham, Mipam). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From 'Jampal's Joyful Handprint': The monk Jampal Lodro Gyatso, who touched the feet of that very master with his head, copied this at Dechen Padma O Ling, the Zhechen practice center, in the Sa-lug year (Earth-Sheep year) for the sake of accomplishment. Khenchen Kunzang Palden, the powerful master of scripture and reasoning, proofread it and established it well. The scribe was Losal Lungtok Tartchin. May this also become a cause for the long-lasting existence of the supreme vehicle, the Great Perfection's teachings. Mangalam! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
