Furthermore, I beseech you to listen. For the sake of swiftly saving the consciousness, the support of sentient beings other than gods, such as Makara (sea monster), I will cultivate the mantra of both generation and completion stages, and maintain pure vows, as the wheel of other-appearance (referring to the means of benefiting sentient beings). All the holy beings gathered in this great mandala, please listen to my prayer. The following is divided into three parts: explaining the cause of making vows, the nature of the vows themselves, and the ultimate branches of the vows. First, explaining the cause of making vows, which is further divided into three points: praying for the motivation of making vows, requesting permission to distinguish the occasions for making vows, and earnestly praying with the reasons for making vows. The first point: 'I' etc. I do not strive to practice for the sake of obtaining the supreme wealth of high status in the next life, such as kingship, or other heavenly enjoyments, and tasting the pleasures of desirable qualities. What I pursue is only to diligently benefit sentient beings with a compassionate heart. Therefore, I beseech you, the all-knowing great wisdom, without obscurations, to be the witness of my unfeigned motivation. Second point: 'Protector Wisdom' etc. I call you Protector, Bhagavan (Blessed One), you see the three times without obstruction with the eyes of wisdom, you know my special intention, that is, bearing the burden of placing all sentient beings in perfect enlightenment. Therefore, in front of the supreme Victor, I vow not to retreat or be weary from the meaning of the vows. I will not deceive you either, if I break the vows, it is deceiving you. I hold the vows firmly and will not deceive you. Therefore, I beseech the Protector to look at my mind stream with your wisdom and allow me to distinguish the occasions for making vows. Third point: 'From the heart I' etc. I am not just saying it verbally, but from the bottom of my heart, I have completely abandoned the evil intentions for the sake of this life's self-interest, such as pursuing fame and profit, or engaging in flattery and accumulating wealth to deceive others. I will focus solely on the mind of benefiting others and diligently practice the great conduct of yoga, perfectly cultivating the three aspects of maturation, liberation, and purification with skillful means. I will strive for the benefit of others with diligence. Or rather, the first sentence of these three verses... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First, I request all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to be witnesses. Second, I request the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to witness my vow. Third, I request the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to witness that I will practice according to my vow. The second part contains two points: first, taking the vow of Mahayana (Mahāyāna, Sanskrit, Great Vehicle) as the overall goal; second, taking the vow of mantra as a specific method of practice. The first point, as taught by Samantabhadra (Samantabhadra, Sanskrit, Universally Worthy) and others: Abandon all that should be abandoned, and realize all that should be realized. The Buddha who has constant, pervasive, and spontaneously accomplished activities is Samantabhadra, because he has exhausted all faults and perfected all virtues. Like this, for the benefit of all sentient beings, I vow to attain the supreme and complete Buddhahood (Anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi, Sanskrit, unsurpassed perfect enlightenment). In order to attain this state, I will, from now on, uphold the precious relative Bodhicitta (Saṃvṛti-bodhicitta, Sanskrit, conventional mind of enlightenment) and ultimate Bodhicitta (Paramārtha-bodhicitta, Sanskrit, ultimate mind of enlightenment) as they are, and practice diligently. The second point, as in 'all living beings' etc.: For example, suppose all living beings turn into demons, gather together, and cut my body into millions of pieces, I will not abandon the supreme Bodhicitta, and the root cause of realizing Bodhicitta—the non-dual ultimate truth (Paramārtha-satya, Sanskrit, ultimate truth), and the wisdom (Prajñā, Sanskrit, wisdom) of realizing the ultimate truth—without attachment, and the means—great compassion (Mahākaruṇā, Sanskrit, great compassion). These three are supreme and cannot be abandoned. My own Ishtadevata (Iṣṭadevatā, Sanskrit, personal deity)—the main deity of the Mandala (Maṇḍala, Sanskrit, sacred enclosure), I will never abandon you. In general, it is not enough to just take the Ishtadevata as a vow, but one should also strive to practice the body, speech, and mind yoga of the Ishtadevata, so that one's own body, speech, and mind are inseparable from the Ishtadevata. Therefore, the mind of the Ishtadevata is naturally included in the vow that cannot be abandoned. Here, not abandoning means continuously practicing the clear visualization of the deity's Mudra (Mudrā, Sanskrit, hand gesture), and continuously reciting the deity's Mantra (Mantra, Sanskrit, sacred utterance). 'The great Vajra vow' means not revealing secrets, and also includes all branch vows. Therefore, these great vows, as well as respecting the Guru Vajra Acharya (Vajrācārya, Sanskrit, Vajra master), and Vajra brothers (Vajrabhrātṛ, Sanskrit, Vajra brothers)—referring to those who rely on the same Guru and Mandala, and are close friends, as well as other close friends who have entered the Vajrayana (Vajrayāna, Sanskrit, Diamond Vehicle), should be loved, which is the same meaning as 'loving those who have entered the right path'. Therefore, for the Vajra vow, the Vajra Guru, and the close and distant Vajra brothers, even for the sake of life, one should not abandon them, and should try to help them as much as possible. I will guard these vows.' As the five vows mentioned in the 《Guhyagarbha Tantra》. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
