(Sarva Mangalam)!

Furthermore, if all the mantras of these vows are added to the two root vows, the latter two will not degenerate. In essence, these vows are transformed, becoming the essence of the vows to be protected. For example, not killing for one's own sake and not killing for the sake of others, like this, whether Mahayana or Hinayana, the vows that are taken, the essence of the vows themselves, are no different for both. Even if the two hundred and fifty precepts of individual liberation are abandoned, Tantra does not have another two hundred and fifty precepts separately. Instead, the previous two hundred and fifty precepts are grasped by skillful means, thereby transforming into Tantric vows. Therefore, even if the way of guarding the vows is the same, due to the difference in the methods of grasping them, they will transform into different vows. For example, a flower, if both ordinary people and noble ones offer it twice, its function is different. Then, should it be called the offering of a Bodhisattva or the offering of an ordinary person? The object of offering, that flower itself, is the same. Therefore, if it is said that they are different, it is because the essence of the vows of individual liberation is those vows, and in the higher vows, there is no need to abandon the lower vows, but they exist simultaneously, that is its meaning. The transformation of essence refers to the fact that, without abandoning, their essence is transformed into the meaning of the vows at that time, and these two are not contradictory. If one can understand its meaning, like fire and wood, they illuminate each other, and there is nothing else besides that. If one does not understand the meaning of the great chariot path and speaks biased words of self and other sects, it is like two sons of one father, but they cling to different fathers, thereby creating conflict. Therefore, Ngari Paṇḍita said: 'Such three vows in one person, their own characteristics not mixed, need to be refuted, completely fulfilled. The essence is transformed, virtues increase, the key is not contradictory, choose the time to use.' If one can grasp the key to such a meaning, not only will one not seek contradictions, but one will also incidentally gain the wisdom to bring all vehicles onto one path, and all the Buddha's words will appear as teachings. Therefore, may this flower of well-spoken words, blooming from the ocean of discriminating wisdom, please the Vajra Manjushri, the essence of stainless wisdom!' This passage was written by Dharma Lord Mipham Rinpoche when he was young, and now it is copied down. May it be auspicious and complete! May the virtuous act of Lhundrub Gyaltsen, who composed the well-reasoned classification of the three vows, cause all beings to attain liberation! Sarva Mangalam!
