It is said that no one in the world can teach it except the Buddha, and in particular, it is the cause of immaculate wisdom that distinguishes the Dharma. By offering substances that increase wisdom to the deity of wisdom, offering a lamp to Manjushri (文殊菩萨) is praised by the holy teachings as being extremely profound. In particular, we, the early translators (Nyingma), know from the teachings of the Vidyadhara lineage, which explains the meaning of the tantras without error, that the fulfillment of the four pairs (four tantras), especially, like the practice of the Tsokhor Lo (荟供轮), eventually leads to the auspicious connection of the Lotus Family Tsokhor, so the lamp offering prayer is extremely important. The lamp is the container, the butter is the essence, the consciousness is the wick, emptiness is the container, clarity is the butter, union is the wick, the body's channels are the container, the five pure substances are the butter, the indestructible bindu is the wick, and so on. With the special symbolism of the base, path, and fruit, the offering that unifies the outer, inner, and secret is extremely sublime. In particular, all the afflictions of samsara arise from the wheel of ignorance, while liberation and nirvana are the opposite, only the light of wisdom. Just as a lamp dispels darkness, self-born wisdom can uproot the illusion of samsara. When all attain the wisdom body and reach the same equal state, the lamp offering symbolizes this supreme meaning. The Heruka Kalpo says: 'Container and essence are non-dual, the union of the parents is pure, the fruit of self-born wisdom light appears, the infinite light shines, and we pray for it to destroy the darkness of samsara.' Therefore, the lamp offering is the king of all offerings. Therefore, at any time, especially at night, lighting a lamp outdoors has many auspicious connections. Just as a lamp shines brightly in the darkness of night, it can illuminate the light of the Buddha's teachings even in the age of the five degenerations. Like the sun and moon, wonderful fame spreads unhindered in all directions. Through these auspicious connections, the great beings of the past gained supreme wisdom, as if the deities opened the door of wisdom, thus giving rise to such great deeds, making the Dharma and politics flourish, and the wish-fulfilling jewel fly high. The holy ones who realized the truth praised with the melodious sound of the auspicious right-spiraling conch shell, and we follow in their footsteps. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tonight, the first evening session is the offering of lamps to please Jetsun Jampel Yang (incarnation of Manjushri), which brings forth the light of auspicious wisdom. Prepare all offerings to the best of your ability and pray with one-pointed devotion. Through the blessings of the supreme deity and the ocean of the Sangha, there will be inconceivable auspicious transformations and positive connections. Be sure to be certain of this. Even at such a time, remember: 'All phenomena arise from conditions, the power of intention is strongest. Whatever prayers are made, such fruits will surely come to pass.' Therefore, this is very important. In this state, for the source of benefit and happiness—the general precious teachings, and in particular the supremely excellent early translation's Khenpo, Slob, and Chos (referring to Padmasambhava) three's precious, stainless teachings and practices—may it flourish, develop, be completely victorious in all directions, and never decline. It is crucial to pray with words and believe in this way in your heart. As stated in the Sutras (Do): 'In the degenerate age, even just once thinking with regret about the decline of the teachings is praised with exceedingly wonderful qualities.' Thinking of the teachings is the conduct of upholding the teachings. It is said in the Sutras that there is no other beneficial quality like it. The ocean of prayers like a prince also includes prayers for upholding the Dharma, and its benefits cannot be measured. Therefore, be sure to clearly understand that the upper lamas have grasped this, and that your own completion, maturation, and purification will be accomplished. These instructions must be conveyed clearly. The second part is the main practice. When night comes and the lines on the hand become invisible, according to the signals of the conch etc., from each of the temples and monastic houses, on the roof and everywhere, arrange rows of lamps in an orderly fashion. In addition, it is also good to display the five offerings (rnam lnga) and representations of the body, etc. After completing the arrangement, along with the sound of the conch, light the lamps. On the roof of the temple, arrange as many abbots and monks as appropriate, at least enough to have a full set of musicians, to perform the offering, blessings, invocation, refuge, bodhicitta, offering, seven-branch prayer, and prayers as well as recitations and music according to the ritual. Each monk should wear their robes and hats completely and properly, stand on the roof of their own monastic house, holding burning incense, for all sentient beings... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
