Moreover, there are once-returners and non-returners. Merely attaining the stream-enterer fruit and being reborn in one's own country, thereby abandoning the sixth level of desire realm afflictions, one becomes a once-returner; abandoning the ninth level, one becomes a non-returner. So, what is the reason for establishing the fruits of a contemplative as four? To this, the Vaibhashikas say: In the Treasury of Knowledge, it says, "The four fruits are established because of five reasons: on the fruit, first abandoning the path, obtaining other fruits, the summation of cessation, obtaining eight knowledges, and obtaining sixteen aspects." This means that establishing the four fruits is because one first abandons the path of stream-entry, obtains the path of other fruits, and the summation of cessation, which is the summation of abandonment. For example, at the sixteenth moment, one obtains the attainment of abandoning all that is to be abandoned by the path of seeing. One obtains four Dharma knowledges and four subsequent knowledges, a total of eight knowledges, and obtains sixteen aspects of the unconditioned, such as impermanence. They believe that obtaining these five distinctions is the reason for establishing the four fruits. However, from the perspective of abandoning what is to be abandoned, the first fruit is established merely by abandoning what is to be abandoned by the path of seeing, while the latter three fruits are established from the perspective of abandoning what is to be abandoned by the path of meditation. That is to say, from the perspective of abandoning what is to be abandoned by the path of meditation in the desire realm, two fruits are established: abandoning the sixth level becomes a once-returner, and abandoning the ninth level becomes a non-returner. Completely abandoning the afflictions of the upper realms (form and formless realms) is established as the Arhat fruit. Thus, they have thoroughly explained the classifications of the great beings of stream-entry and abiding. As such, if I were to start from the individuals of stream-entry and abiding, and elaborate through debates and answers, I might be able to explain all the scriptures of the Buddha and the treatises of the great masters. However, because those of lesser intelligence cannot follow, I will refrain. For the classifications of these noble ones, the main focus is on eliminating linguistic errors, citing a few definitions and a small amount of scriptural evidence as their basis. If I were to write only a brief overview, it might satisfy the fools who rely on words. But those who are wise and rely on meaning will conduct in-depth research, desiring to understand the meaning of the scriptures. To help them, I will explain in detail. What should one rely on to lead the way to liberation?

Friends of. The supreme friend, the abode of the noble assembly. The supreme assembly, the conduct of the pure Sangha. I will clearly explain the truth without error. The vast ocean is like the realm of knowledge. The Abhidharma, which reveals as it is, is to be distinguished without error or confusion. It is difficult for others to create wisdom in the mind of good wisdom. Whatever is said, the good words are like a garland of stars. Adorning my wisdom, the vast path of the sky. The wise and supreme master with the eye of Dharma, Redawa. May the one named Youth always be victorious. In the upper and lower Abhidharma texts and commentaries. When I have been familiar with it for a long time and have gained fearlessness. In order to encourage others and to increase my own wisdom. Therefore, I have made this staircase to enter wisdom. The means to achieve only the happiness of this unstable life. If there is no contentment even with material things. The supreme wealth that accomplishes lasting happiness is the wealth of hearing. To be content with that is to be possessed by demons. Abandon the desire for knowledge, gain, and respect. Abandoning the arrogance before the wise and practicing the meaning. Those who have attained the prophecy Wise men have long sought their meaning. Ema, it is necessary to strive for hearing and achieve it. For the sake of gain and respect, one only holds words and phrases in front of others. Craving for retinues, one quickly gathers a large group of disciples. Without trust, one makes arbitrary judgments and teaches evil distinctions. When I see them, Sonam Drakpa is very sad. Thus, although I have strived, I have spoken without not speaking, etc. If there are accumulations of faults, I pray to the stainless ones and the best of the scholars of Jambudvipa. The two brothers and the wise man's wise man, the great king's son. I confess my sins and ask for forgiveness from the virtuous friends who are praised. With whatever merit I have gained from the effort of pure intention. From life to life, holding the Dharma of the Victorious One, the best of the wise, etc., are not satisfied. May the eye of wisdom never be obscured by the thorn of jealousy, even when listening to the good words of others, abandoning the arrogance of the wise. The establishment of the great beings who enter and abide, called the Staircase for the Wise to Ascend, is the glorious Sakya Pandita Redawa Youth, the great possessor of the eye of Dharma for all the words of the Sugata.

Through the grace of wisdom, having attained the light of intelligence regarding the meaning of all the upper and lower Abhidharma treatises, and also being proficient in the Sutra Pitaka and Vinaya Pitaka, as well as the principles of logic, and being able to discern reason and unreason, Tsongkhapa Lobsang Drakpa, at the request of some intelligent and inquisitive individuals, composed this in the great monastery of Dewachen (Sukhavati). Svasti! May the Victorious One's teachings, like a lotus garden filled with the fragrance of benefit and happiness, with its blossoms of explanation and practice blooming, and the nectar of liberation being sweet, for the sake of benefiting all beings, on the land of the four births and ten virtues, spread this rain of Dharma from the great monastery.
