Therefore, attachment to sects and views, etc., will not arise. Second is, the great and other four. Great beings, the noble ones, do not debate by means of establishing their own side as being established by its own nature, because they directly realize that dependent arising has no arising or ceasing by its own nature. The latter two, refuting the other side, do not establish their own nature, because establishing one's own side does not establish its own nature. Second, there is the way of turning back and the way of entering. The first is, all and other four. That (referring to the noble one) is not controlled by the serpent of afflictions, because they directly realize that there is not even a trace of truth in the place of the object of grasping at characteristics. It pervades, if one finds the truth of the object of grasping, whether it is a pleasant or unpleasant object, then one will be controlled by the serpent of afflictions. Leading with a crooked posture, hence it is called a cunning one. Second is, dwelling and other four. Whether it is a pleasant or unpleasant object of focus, if one clings to it as real, then afflictions such as attachment will arise towards these, because even in the state of experiencing neutral feeling, between the times when attachment and aversion are not manifest, one is still controlled by the affliction of ignorance. Third, it shows that compassion should be generated for those who are bound by the clinging to reality, and that the noble ones are the opposite of this. The first is, child and other four. Ordinary child beings, actually clinging to the subtle aspects of objects, wander in samsara, because they are influenced by the affliction of ignorance, and cling to things as real. For example, a child who is not familiar with symbols, clings to the image of a face as the face itself. Second is, self and other four. Great beings, the noble ones, will not cling to the mud of samsara because of clinging to things as real, because they directly realize that all things are like images, without inherent existence. Identifying who enters samsara and the basis of the one who turns back, is child and other eight. Ordinary child beings are the basis for entering samsara, because children of the desire realm generate attachment to forms that are encompassed by the five objects of desire, and apart from non-inherent existence, they do not desire anything else, the higher realms that are free from attachment.

Because those (beings) develop attachment to the feeling of equanimity. Then there are two lines: Great noble beings are the support for turning away from samsara, because they directly realize the emptiness of the nature of form. Then there is one line: Ordinary people of the desire realm develop attachment to form, which is encompassed by the five objects of desire, because they cling to those objects as truly desirable. Then there is one line: Ordinary people of the higher realms do not develop attachment to these (forms), because they are free from attachment to them through meditating on impurity. The last two lines: Noble beings, because they see all things as like illusions, will enter nirvana, because they directly realize the emptiness of the nature of form. The summary of the meaning is: It is taught that liberation is achieved by realizing the absence of basis and limits. It is taught that liberation is achieved by not focusing on what is to be refuted. It is taught that liberation is achieved by focusing on what is to be refuted. The first is: For the four lines beginning with "wrong," those (noble beings) who directly realize the meaning of the words of dependent origination, which is without inherent existence, do not experience the faults of afflictions tormented by wrong views, because they directly realize that things, non-things, and inherent existence are without inherent existence. The second is: For the four lines beginning with "place," great noble beings do not become attached to desirable objects, or, having abandoned attachment to them, become attached to the higher realms, because they directly realize that places or supports are without inherent existence. It follows that: If there is a true clinging to places or supports, then some people will be attached to desirable objects, and some, having abandoned attachment to them, will arise because of attachment to the desirable objects and supports of the higher realms. The third is: For the four lines beginning with "who," they will cross the ocean of existence churned by the serpent of afflictions, because they directly realize that the moving mental concept that thinks of inherent existence as non-existent is unmoving and without inherent existence. Dedicating the virtue of composing the third chapter to enlightenment: May it be attained in the four lines beginning with "virtue." Where the meaning of non-inherent existence abides in a state of non-return, like water poured into water or butter poured into butter, is the Dharmakaya, and the two Rupakayas are those that perform the benefit of beings by its power. What kind of cause do these two have? It is the accumulation of merit and wisdom.

Through whatever virtue, the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning" was composed. For what purpose? For all beings. May, through the virtue of this effort, in all lifetimes, I comprehend the profound Dharma of dependent origination, and may I never be separated from practicing its meaning. This was spoken by the Omniscient Lord, and recorded by Omniscient Darma Rinchen. Auspicious! Svasti! Like a lotus garden, filled with the fragrance of benefit and happiness, flourishing in explanation and practice, filled with the essence of the nectar of liberation. For the benefit of all beings, in Dege Lhundrub Teng (Dege Printing House), from this great monastery, may this rain of Dharma giving spread. The notes on the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning" were written by Gyaltsab Dharma Rinchen according to the words of the Lord.
