An Excerpt from the Commentary "Clarifying Distinctions" on the Glorious Abhisamayalankara An Excerpt from the Commentary "Clarifying Distinctions" on the Glorious Abhisamayalankara An Excerpt from the Commentary "Clarifying Distinctions" on the Glorious Abhisamayalankara: Homage! Thus, according to the instructions, having explained the method of practice, one cultivates only this method of practice. With the completion stage, one thoroughly distinguishes according to the instructions, and in that, the interval up to the extreme of intense yoga is the generation stage. Great yoga is the completion stage. These two, the generation stage and the completion stage, should be meditated upon only with the order of the six limbs that are proven by reasoning. Otherwise, one will not attain true practice. It is also said similarly in the latter tantra of the Glorious Guhyasamaja Tantra: "By combining approach and the six limbs, having made the supreme accomplishment, one should practice; otherwise, one will not attain the supreme accomplishment." Thus. Separate gathering and meditation, life force, likewise holding, recollection, and samadhi, are considered the six limbs of union. That which is related to the eye and so forth, the five consciousnesses separately gathering from objects such as forms, is that which, having gathered, truly tames, and that is separate gathering. Or, holding the object as the nature of the deity itself is separate gathering. Meditation: in the order of separate gathering, one meditates on the consciousness of the mind as the nature of the deity. That also has five aspects: conceptualization, analysis, joy, bliss, and one-pointedness of mind. Among these, that which possesses the mandala of the vessel and its contents, the complete contemplation of the Bhagavan's glorious vows, is conceptualization. That which is determined by steadfastness in that alone is analysis. Because of analyzing and focusing on the nature of that and that deity, the mind's happiness is joy. The mind that is tranquil and accompanied by the deity meditated upon with joy is bliss. Because the mind possessing bliss becomes samadhi, the arising of ignorance, which is the object of various false appearances, is exhausted, and the mind that focuses only on the desired deity is one-pointedness of mind. Thus, these are called the five limbs of meditation. Thus, the morning session.

As for how it is described during the intervals, one should meditate on the mandala wheel in sequence, and even at noon, one should instantly meditate on the mandala wheel in the same way. One should individually gather and truly focus on meditation, and meditate as long as one desires. Afterwards, during the intervals, adorned with real or imagined five seals, holding a skull cup, khatvanga, and damaru, the practitioner who observes the conduct of the Buddha skull cup should only meditate on the mandala and circumambulate, and perform activities such as eating and drinking. It is also said that one should rise from the practice of blessing the three times and abide in the form of the deity. Regarding this meaning, the thirty-ninth chapter of the Shri Vajra Dakini Tantra says: The glorious conduct of Heruka, with khatvanga and other meditations, with the left hand holding the skull cup, one should practice conduct with conduct. Thus it is. In particular, in order to complete the activity, when erecting trees and the like, one should offer torma in the same way and protect it every day. Thus, it is also said in the commentary called "The Treasury of Methods of Accomplishment": "Khatvanga and other meditations," the word "etc." indicates the damaru. Sprinkling with water and the like is only a slight indication, and for all activities such as circumambulation and eating and drinking, one should practice in this way. In particular, among the three mudras, due to the vow, one should take the closest mudra as needed. Sometimes one also holds a vajra and bell, but it is not necessary to always hold these. Thus, holding the conduct of the Buddha skull cup, for the samadhi of the twelve arms and other glorious Sarvaha, in the order of true practice, for the practice contained within the three realms and the completely ultimate, one should also practice the Mahamudra. This skull cup conduct should only be given at the time of empowerment in the Yogini Tantra, and the practitioner should not doubt that emptiness arises from this nature of thirty-two marks and the like. For this, one should also only meditate on the deity from the morning session to the midnight session.
