Ga, as well as being free from desire, and the intermediate desire greatly increasing, therefore it is called consciousness. Therefore, it is called the three consciousnesses. Therefore, as a method of body mudra, there are sitting in the lotus position and so on; as a method of speech mudra, there are mantras correctly arising from A (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: अ, Sanskrit Romanization: a, Chinese literal meaning: A) li (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: इ, Sanskrit Romanization: i, Chinese literal meaning: I) ga (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: क, Sanskrit Romanization: ka, Chinese literal meaning: Ga) li (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: ल, Sanskrit Romanization: la, Chinese literal meaning: La); as a method of mind mudra, it is visualizing as a deity from seed syllables and symbols. Forms and other objects are the method of the two senses being equally combined. The correct union of vajra and lotus is the method of mind and mental factors. The equal union of mind and mental factors is the method of the great bliss samadhi. This is approximated by the example of illusion, that is, the Tathagatas in Buddhafields as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, like illusion, like the moon in water, like cataracts, like mirages, like dreams, like echoes, like Gandharva cities, like magic, like rainbows, like lightning, like bubbles, like reflections in a mirror, these twelve examples of illusion are to approximate the great bliss samadhi. Just as churning milk produces butter, just as sesame seeds produce sesame oil. Similarly, the vajra is to approximate the wisdom of skillful means, and the lotus is to approximate the wisdom of knowledge. Just as butter and sesame oil do not arise without the correct manifestation of milk and sesame seeds, so without the prior manifestation of mantras and mudras, the vajra and lotus not being equally united, the three consciousnesses cannot be approximated. Not being able to correctly unite the bhaga and lingam, one cannot obtain the great bliss samadhi. Merely being particularly inclined towards the great bliss samadhi, one will abide in the position of the first practitioner, and will also learn non-retrogression. That which correctly approximates the self-nature luminosity with the bliss of the equal union of vajra and lotus, that will completely abide in the state of great bliss. This is the secret explanation. The great Bodhisattvas request, the Blessed One.

Lord, what is the general meaning? The Blessed One said: Those who practice the Dharma of detachment, such as the Shravakas, who have not been liberated from the habitual tendencies of conceptualization, are said to reside in the bhaga of nuns, etc., in the great yoga tantras. If they hear the wonderful vajra words that clearly explain the Dharma of desire and slander them, those that are spoken through the door of contradiction of the eye are said to be spoken as the general meaning. The great Bodhisattvas asked: Lord, how is the ultimate Dharma of practicing the Dharma of desire explained? Then the Blessed One said: Well done, great Bodhisattvas! Well done, well done! Listen, great Bodhisattvas who possess supreme compassion! The ultimate is the ultimate, which is called the clear light and the true nature. The great Bodhisattvas asked: Lord, by what does one attain the ultimate? The Blessed One said: At the end of the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, etc., there are the three emptinesses. At the end of the three emptinesses, there is clear light. The great Bodhisattvas asked: Lord, how do the three emptinesses transform into the end of clear light? The Blessed One said: Just as fire burns wood and turns it into ashes, so too, with the wisdom of clear light, one thoroughly purifies for a long time. Just as one does not leave ashes of the palm tree, so too, one thoroughly purifies the wisdom of means. Just as the petals of cotton are burned, so too, with the wisdom of attaining appearance, one quickly and thoroughly purifies. Therefore, just as wood, palm leaves, and cotton petals turn into ashes, so too, emptiness, utter emptiness, and great emptiness ultimately transform into clear light. This is in terms of the ultimate meaning. Maitreya asked: Lord, how do all the Tathagatas explain the six ends in the yoga tantras? The Blessed One said: Explaining with intention, explaining without intention, provisional meaning, definitive meaning, according to the words, according to the words.
