From page 901 to 994. From page 901 to 994. As spoken by the Tathagata, it should be said thus, that is, the wisdom of the Tathagata here is that which realizes the very nature of all dharmas as without self-nature, not the characteristic of non-things, the mind of deep sleep. Thus, refutations are spoken. To this, previously as the reason for not being without thought, because of the characteristic of self-awareness, etc., if the wisdom of the Tathagata is self-awareness, then it contradicts the statement that all dharmas are without self-nature, that is, the wisdom of the Tathagata is meditating on the profound meaning of attaining Buddhahood, as previously explained. The meaning of the term "characteristic of self-awareness" is that if it is merely awareness and awareness of one's own essence, then it cannot be explained as the reason for not thinking about anything, therefore it is the cause of definite awareness of the object of meditation. If there is such a cause of awareness, then it is said to contradict self-nature, because if the object of meditation is without self-nature, then nothing is established, therefore it is thought that there is nothing to grasp, and if so, then it is argued that the profound meaning of meditation cannot be known by the mind. As an answer to this, the meaning of self-naturelessness is not the characteristic of the absence of all things, thus it is said, that is, if there is no self-nature, then the school that considers things to be non-existent, prevents the nihilistic emptiness that holds emptiness and dependent arising to be contradictory, therefore one's own school is, although there is no self-nature, Nevertheless, all the actions of things that accomplish the meaning of bondage and liberation are reasonable, which is the school of the Madhyamikas. The wisdom of meditating on the profound meaning is the realization that all dharmas are without self-nature, not the mind of deep sleep. Thus it is said, that is, not holding on to self-naturelessness, the mind like sleep is not regarded as meditating on the profound meaning. Therefore, without cultivating the view of ascertaining the meaning of self-naturelessness, merely allowing the appearance of emptiness, abiding without thinking of anything, considering this to be meditating on the profound meaning, and because of one's own bad intelligence, imposing the pervasion of non-existence on self-naturelessness, thinking that if it exists, it exists truly, some say that there is no grasping onto anything, while others proclaim that all the statements about existence, such as existing for the sake of turning the wheel of Dharma, are truly existent, and propagate the Madhyamika reasoning collections, etc.

Those who think that "emptiness is taught" are those who have deviated from the system of the Wheel of Time and slander the immaculate scriptures. If cultivating the view of certainty of meaning established by reason without inherent existence is meditating on profound meaning, then from briefly stating one's own view: "The aggregate analyzed is emptiness, like water and trees without essence, the most excellent of all aspects, emptiness does not change in this way." Then, how should this statement be understood? If you meditate on the meaning that has been established by reason and thoroughly cut off superimpositions, and you think that this is meditating on emptiness without essence, then you are unprecedented. Therefore, this scripture does not mean that it is not permissible to meditate on the emptiness of analyzing aggregates without inherent existence. If it were not so, then it is said in the scriptures to realize and meditate on the non-inherent existence of all phenomena. If you do not seek the certainty of the non-inherent existence of all phenomena by reasoning, then meditating only by vows is a foolish act. Moreover, through the reasoning of one and different and the metaphor of the sky flower, the Madhyamikas have proclaimed the wisdom of ultimate truth by analyzing the aggregates of consciousness as being without inherent existence, which contradicts the above view. So, what is the meaning of this scripture? The emptiness of non-inherent existence, in which phenomena are empty of their own nature, although there is no difference for all phenomena, what is the phenomenon that is combined with it and meditated upon? It is not combined with the aggregates of dust particles, but with the appearance of empty form. The reason for this is that if the wisdom of certainty of emptiness and its appearance of empty form are made inseparable as body and mind, then the wisdom body will be accomplished, but the body of dust particles will not be transformed into the wisdom body. Similarly, it is not applicable to any analyzed emptiness, but to prevent the nihilistic emptiness of understanding everything as unreal due to incorrect analysis methods. As it is said in the commentary on the fifth chapter: "The emptiness of analyzing the nature of the aggregates of dust particles is far from the nihilistic emptiness." Therefore, the aggregates are also different, and the analyzed emptiness is also different. In this way, if the view of determining the meaning of selflessness is not distinguished by whether or not it is cultivated, then the previous view is the profound meaning.
