It is important not to do too much when meditating on something that is not very clear, but to focus on the essentials. Then drink some hot tea or soup. Perform the offering. Immediately after that, enter the session of recitation and practice. That is, the nature of the generation stage is without attachment, the face and hands of the self-nature are clear, and the visualization of the compassion, light, and rays emanating and gathering is clear. By focusing the mind on one point, the skill of the generation and completion stages is achieved. Unlike some people nowadays, who cherish aspiration as the basis of practice, and do whatever their nature allows, old and young recite mani. Such a session ends around noon. Perform water torma, confess sins, recite the Samantabhadra's Prayer, Ushnishavijaya, Yeshe Kuje, and other scriptures, and end with mantras and aspirations. If you can quickly write about eight pages of scriptures, then write them. If there is nothing special, then meditate on Tögal. Then, when eating lunch, recite many special mantras for the meat, generate compassion, and after making aspirations, visualize the aggregates and elements as deities and practice the yoga of food. Recite the Yönjön Sutra. Then, prostrate two or three hundred times, and recite sutras and tantric prayers. Immediately go to bed and diligently practice the meditation and recitation of the yidam. Therefore, the number of recitations of many different yidams has gone beyond imagination. Perform the evening gathering, perform the torma offering, recite the subsequent rituals, practice the completion stage, recite a strong prayer to realize the clear light, and recite the Sampalhundrupma, making impartial aspirations for oneself and all other beings. After meditating on one session of holding the breath, enter the yoga of sleep. Each time you wake up, do not let delusions spread, but focus on the mind with one-pointed intention, so great progress is made. In short, during these three years, there was no distinction between much or little food, and I managed with only one cotton robe. Not a single word was uttered through the door crack. Even when there was an attendant inside, I never went beyond the inner door crack separated by the inner and outer paper doors. I developed renunciation for samsara, sadness, and the thought that I don't know when I will die. Therefore, I never said a single word of idle chatter or meaningless talk. Therefore, those who follow me are called hermits, and the doorkeeper.

Build high walls, and let the discriminating thoughts run rampant. Looking outward, saying a rope is a crow, making noise becomes an obstacle to hearing. Meeting people in the doorway, discussing topics of Han, Tibetan, and Mongolian, etc., the six consciousnesses all scatter outward, the essence of retreat is lost, appearances all dissipate outward, accomplishments vanish outward, obstacles are drawn inward, and in the state of mind being scattered and unrestrained, the days of the year and month retreats are completed. The stream of consciousness has not become better by a hair than before. Never make the retreat become ordinary like this. Let bones grow in your heart. Whether you are sick, have a fever, or die, whether you are in retreat, practicing the generation stage, practicing the completion stage, writing, or reciting scriptures, whatever you do, do not abandon the nature of your own mind, do not tighten too much, do not loosen too much, there is nothing to meditate on, and not a hair of distraction. Do not transform or modify the present awareness, and do not separate from this. If you separate from this, letting discriminating thoughts arise, entrusting everything to ignorance, it will make the so-called practitioner become broad-minded, familiar with the Dharma, recognize the guru, criticize the faults of fellow practitioners, and be busy accumulating wealth, wasting a lifetime on meaningless things. Foolish people will say, this person is a Dharmakaya, with great merit, and vast benefit for others. But being arrogant and haughty is the complete manifestation of demonic intrusion. Therefore, put your mind on the Dharma, put the Dharma on the beggar, put the beggar on death, and put death on the empty tomb. These four sentences are the instructions of the Kadampa school, and all practitioners should regard them as the norm, so that demons will have no way to start. Furthermore, if you tell others about your experiences and dreams, use the Dharma and retreat to pour out your suffering, speak ill of the tenets and teachings of those who hold different views, etc., these are all actions that cause accomplishments to disappear and expose your own shortcomings, so stay in a low position, get along harmoniously with others, wear tattered clothes, let go of all attachments, and from the depths of your heart, do not fear even the Lord of Death, Yama, but outwardly be more gentle than the seemingly noble white swan, and more humble than the Guardian King, so that you can transform the evil thoughts of others into good thoughts. In short, to practice the Dharma properly, you must rely on a qualified guru, otherwise, the only ones who can give you honest teachings are your parents.
