All three of them settled down, performing the family rituals accordingly. The foolish elder brother became dull by nature. The two younger brothers, when discussing household affairs, became unfriendly due to vast differences in their wisdom. The cunning one (Rab Dred) thought: Can I drive the young Rab Sel out of the house by force? If I do so, the elder brother is foolish, and there is no one else to rival me, so I will become independent. Thus, he began to prepare various means of attack. The youngest son also understood his thoughts and said: Elder brother, please do not dislike me. I will certainly leave home and become a renunciate, practicing the asceticism of patience. Hearing this, he was very pleased and let him go as he pleased. After that, on the road where Rab Sel was leaving, he saw his foolish elder brother lighting a fire at the edge of a large forest. He himself was in the middle of the forest, covering his head, staying in a manner that craved the warmth of the fire. Having seen this, he said: Alas, foolish beings of the world! Not understanding long-term ruin, they indulge in immediate pleasure, like a fool burning a forest. Having said this, the foolish one became enraged and looked in all directions, still mocking Rab Sel. Those who are unwise but think themselves wise, proclaim that actions in accordance with Dharma are not to be done, and they themselves enter the wrong path. After that, Rab Sel lived in a large forest hermitage, practicing pure conduct with righteous vows, and thoroughly understood the selflessness of the person. He also entered the selflessness of phenomena with clear wisdom. At that time, Rab Dred's actions became numerous, his perverse wisdom became extremely excessive, wild, and fierce, and his very wealthy home quickly turned into a beggar's dwelling. There he wandered around everywhere, and then his younger brother Rab Sel saw him and said: The fool who burns the forest, even though the matters of what to take and what to leave are obvious, still clings to what is irrational. The person who has turned his father's house into a beggar's dwelling! Even if you could now distinguish between the advantages and disadvantages, it is too late to reverse it. This is also a corruption of wisdom! Whether in this world or in others.

Those who boast of great intelligence do not maintain the demeanor of begging, saying, "Look at the difference between me and you." He, hearing this, became enraged and again abandoned the conduct of a beggar, instead adopting the methods of a hunter, and at the time of death, a vision of collapse and destruction vividly arose. If one embarks on the path of perverse wisdom, it is like a forest consumed by fire; the wind driven by conceptual thoughts also becomes their demon. Hey, flock of heavenly birds! A foolish son is merely an ordinary person, a moderately lazy one is a coarse person, and the smallest, most intelligent one is a precious person. This meaning makes all in the world well understand the distinctions and differences of wisdom. Having spoken thus, the flock of heavenly birds also thought that we worldly beings, along with them, are utterly blind to what should be accepted and rejected, and are all just blind! So they requested: Hey! Bodhisattva Rabbit, you are the one who unlocks the treasure of supreme wisdom, and in order to make your fame clear in the world, your image is clearly reflected in the moon. Because you possess inconceivable courage, your ears are always raised high. Because you have completely cut off the evil paths of bad destinies, going downwards is not wise. Because you continuously progress on the path of the ground, you quickly practice the asceticism of ascending to the summit of the mountain. Now, please teach the supreme Dharma that arises from emptiness and compassion. Having requested thus, the rabbit, accustomed to the posture of the Dharmakaya, without moving, said: Hey, listen, we dwell in the forest, and even the merit of being alone is inconceivable and cannot be expressed. The forest is praised by the Buddhas, in the forest there is no trade or agriculture, likewise there is no distraction of commotion, nor are there sinful friends, the gatherings of children are very few, green trees that are pleasing to see, soft cotton trees that are pleasant to touch, delicious sprouts that are pleasant to eat, etc., without effort or strife, there are countless qualities of desirable things. There, there is no coarse commotion, no various kinds of behavior, where would there be fighting and quarreling? Naturally, one abides in great equanimity, beings of the same kind do not harm each other, it is love itself, and if the other encounters obstacles, that suffering is compassion, and whoever becomes perfect, because there is no jealousy, it is joy!
