In Tibetan: Called \"A Treasury of Poetic Speech.\" Homage to the Lion of Speech. Brahma's daughter, with a beautiful body, Whose speech captivates all beings. Today, Goddess Saraswati, Please reside as the glory of my throat. Having said this, through the auspicious gateway of appearance arising as words, in order to delight beginners who love intelligence, the thirty-five figures of speech, exemplified and concisely summarized according to the tradition of ancient scholars in the second chapter of Dandin's Poetics, will be explained in a very easy-to-understand manner. First, the figure of speech of describing inherent qualities refers to describing without exaggeration or denigration. For example: Today, the pillar appears before my eyes, as a contributing factor, in the vast belly of the earth, even the branches of the trees are bent. Look, here, a hundred-storied building has become the nourishment of life. This is the first example. Second, the figure of speech of simile refers to combining two similar things in similar places and with similar qualities. For example, connecting because one has not seen bamboo, like trees by the water, everything is straight. A group like durva grass is rare, having petals like new emeralds, this is merely a characteristic of bamboo. Or, again: The youth drinking with its feet, is very similar to a young lotus. The petals are like blue উৎপལ་ flowers, the joints are like bracelets of a beautiful woman. This is like the former being an object as a simile, and the latter being a quality applied as an example. Third, the figure of speech of personification refers to, two things being similar as before, in similar places and with similar qualities, not merely stated as similar examples, but shaping that thing into the form of an example, like this: O Sage, when your teachings and realizations, with five faces, shake the turquoise hair of various vehicles, all the beings who speak of the destruction of the three realms, flee into the dense forest of permanence and annihilation. This is the third example. Fourth, the figure of speech of clarification refers to associating the main characteristic of what is to be expressed with all the expressions of that characteristic in a particular situation, whether at the beginning, middle, or end."

This is called the name of that thing and its manifestation. For example: In the presence of the king, a young consort; on the neck of a peacock, beautiful rainbow feathers; in the garden, blooming white lotuses. They steal the hearts of all who are attached. Like these examples. Fifth, Circumambulation: At the beginning, end, and middle of the four lines of a poem, in various ways, words expressing the same meaning are used to circumambulate. For example: Because the elements of the body with substance are pure, the bow of the senses arises from this. Because the connection of the coming and going breath is severed, there is no sound or echo. The stains of various thoughts are completely removed, and there is no clarity or obscurity in his heart. The conduct of the Vajra Youth born from the ocean is not the Vajra of the senses. Like these examples. Sixth, Prohibition: First, a negative thing is presented, such as the quality of its own nature, and then that thing is specifically prohibited as a fault. For example: If a smiling face captivates the hearts of others, why need artificial glances? If a naturally beautiful waist is slender, why need various ornaments? If the fragrance of a lotus permeates, why need washing with camphor water? If one is not bound by the rope of affection hereafter, one cannot bear the burden of old age. Like these examples. Seventh, Establishing Another Meaning: First, an object similar to the object to be proven is presented inconspicuously, and then a more powerful ability to prove its own nature is stated. For example: The father of the world, Brahma, also goes to another place according to karma. The end of birth is certainly death; even if one flees, there is no liberation. Like these examples. Eighth, Opposite: First, it is pointed out that the words are the same in example, meaning, and nature, and then, in order to prove the characteristics that are not the same in meaning, some causes that are well-known in the world are repeated, thereby clearly showing their own nature. For example: The face of a beauty and the smile of a lotus, although they seem very beautiful and the same, the lotus closes in the sunlight, and the beauty is even more charming at this time. Like these examples. Ninth, Impossibility: In order to show that a result can arise even without a cause, some examples of the same nature in the world are repeated to explain. It is said thus: The continent of non-perception
