Therefore, it is not with characteristics and differences, but accomplished in the state of unbiased knowledge. From the arising of compassion, there are various appearances, but it is not necessarily just one kind. Because of the various appearances, it is called the "Base." As it is said, from the perspective of emptiness, from the perspective of essence, and from the perspective of its self-nature luminosity, and from the perspective of means, these are the differences of the two reversals. As the first one says, like this: From the King of Tantras without letters, it says: I have no birth and death, the unobstructed Dharma is completely fulfilled. I have no outer and inner, the luminous Dharma is completely fulfilled. I have no emptiness and reality, the appearing Dharma is completely fulfilled. I have no object of focus, the Dharma of seeing is completely fulfilled. I have no body and mind, the self-appearing Dharma is completely fulfilled. I have no self and other, the five wisdom Dharmas are completely fulfilled. I have no cause of action, the great meditation is completely fulfilled. I have no direction and limit, the secret wisdom is completely fulfilled. I have no appearance and cessation, the three Dharmas of the Dharmadhatu are completely fulfilled. Thus, it shows that self-nature is empty. As the second one says, like this: From the Great Perfection Six Spaces, it says: In the appearance of self-nature itself, there is no clinging to characteristics at all. It is not color, but self-luminous, merely the part of knowing and awareness. Because there is no object to be grasped, there is no grasping part of conceptual thought. In the primordial purity beyond light, it has been pervading from the very beginning. In the self-luminous nature beyond the body, it exists in the completely pure Great Seal. However, for the appearance of self-nature, there is no clinging to characteristics at all. Thus, summarizing the meaning of both, the meaning of the Base is the primordially pure, spontaneously accomplished state, the indivisible great state, the body and wisdom are inseparable, the suchness without beginning, the unparalleled self-born, the original nature of great wisdom, not separated in samsara or nirvana, possessing the root of all samsara and nirvana. This does not exist elsewhere, but in the Dharma nature appearing as samsara and nirvana, the Base is completely present in the unchanging Greatness. Therefore, may all sentient beings, abiding like mountains in the unspeakable meaning of the Base, possess the excellent qualities that transcend the Base in the moment of seeing the Base appearance, and may they attain their own ground of Dharmakaya, completely purified of all defilements!

When questioning in this way, having completely perfected the thirty-eight stages of places, and reaching the ultimate point of questioning. Although there are countless questions like these that could be elaborated upon extensively, however, condensing the essence briefly, and giving only a slight indication, by this, whatever stages of the path are attained, and how the manner of understanding is, may all virtuous spiritual friends be aware of it. This text of questions posed to the noble Lama and spiritual friends is called "The Palace of Victory." Composed by the treasure revealer Ratna Lingpa, a disciple of the great master Padmasambhava of Oddiyana, the translator Langdro of Tsang Nup Rong, who awakened the habitual tendencies, utilizing the profound treasure path, a great perfection yogi, in the Wood Dragon year, on the twenty-third day of the Rabbit month (1424), in the palace called Tsalung Thangkar, may it be virtuous! This also encourages others not to disregard these questions indifferently, but to give answers, and concludes by stating his own name and with the colophon of the author. From "The Precious Garland of Questions and Answers - A Treasury of Instructions," the chapter on specifically explaining the debate and answers, the fifth chapter.
