The occasion of distinguishing the tenets of Atiyoga, both general and specific, is the fourth chapter. The occasion of distinguishing the tenets of Atiyoga, both general and specific, is the fourth chapter. Now, the second meaning is to elaborate on the tenets of Atiyoga, which are divided into three categories. The first is the Mind Class: It is called the Atiyoga that speaks of "Ground, Knot, and Transformation." It asserts that although the essence appears in various forms, it does not go beyond the play of the single mind-essence, just as various images appear on the surface of a single mirror. Moreover, because it is diverse, it does not obstruct anything. Because it is mind, it is not even established as merely diverse. Therefore, the essence of mind, the luminosity of mind-essence, is called the spontaneously arisen wisdom of Atiyoga. As it says in the "Klong gsal": "The appearance of various minds, its basis is the non-dual mind-essence, called the spontaneously arisen wisdom, the unwavering lord, luminosity, and freedom from elaboration." Some here say that appearance is mind, taking the fabrication of appearance by mind as the starting point. To assert that appearance itself is mind, which leads to the consequence that mind-essence becomes something with a fixed entity, is extremely unreasonable. As it says in the "Definitive Meaning Condensed Sutra": "Saying that appearance is mind is like turning copper into gold. Awakening from ignorance, one loses one's own mind. Therefore, the Dharmakaya is immutable, the wisdom body is free from grasping and without mind. That meaning is the inseparable space of enlightenment, the mind-free samadhi constantly abides." Kunchen said: Nowadays, foolish people say that Atiyoga considers appearance to be mind. This is very unreasonable, because mind would then have color, a fixed entity, and directional aspects, because appearance is like that. Therefore, when various appearances appear in the mind, one should know that they are like images in a magical mirror, without actual existence, but rather the nature of appearing in the mind, possessing the aspect of habitual delusion. Therefore, when thoughts and concepts abide without inherent existence, this is appearance, this is mind, the nature of such a thing is without self-entity. Therefore, the essence of mind, without limitation or bias, in a mirror-like state, although various appearances arise, one should know that the nature of the phenomena in which the elaboration of one and many is pacified into the expanse is inconceivable.

, it is very important not to regard the habitual confusion of the perverse desire that appearances are mind as the actual state. This can be divided into seven. The first is the mind-only school that claims that mind is the aspect: Like this, all the appearances of the world and its contents are the play or skill of the mind. Although they appear in various ways, since the mind itself has no essence, the appearances also have no essence. Since the phenomena of appearance are not established, the play of the mind arises from the mind and appears in the mind. Even though it arises in the mind, since the mind itself, the basis of arising, has no essence, it is not correct to think that the play and the mind are the same or different. Therefore, Shingta Chenpo Longchenpa said, "This only shows that the appearance as an external object is not established as an external object. Everything is pure or impure samsara and nirvana, depending on whether it is grasped or not grasped by the self-arisen wisdom. However, the place of arising and the one who arises are pure in the realm of reality, which is the special characteristic of this school." The second is the mind-only school that considers the result to be the source of the mind: The result refers to the primordial realm of reality. Since the nature of reality does not change, the mind does not change. Since it is believed that phenomena are self-liberated, the appearance of the basis of liberation exists spontaneously. All the delusions that appear as the three realms and the environment and beings appear even though they do not exist in reality. Therefore, from the aspect of non-existence, they have not moved from the ground, they do not move, and they do not change. Therefore, they are empty by their own impure nature. From the aspect of appearance, they first arise from the realm of reality, now abide in the realm of reality, and finally are liberated into the realm of reality, like a magical display in the sky. The uncreated establishes the basis of the three realms. Samsara has no beginning, and the spontaneously accomplished unborn is established as the basis. This is also established from the beginning, so it is impossible to liberate it from the beginning with an antidote. The self-established awareness does not depend on an antidote. Since there is no effort, it is believed to be the spontaneously accomplished, free from various extremes. The third is the mind-only school that confuses deviation and obscuration: All eight consciousnesses are imputed by the mind, so they have become phenomena that deviate from the ground, so they have not become authentic. Relying on the spontaneous accomplishment of non-existence, they deviate from the extremes of existence and attachment. Because they deviate from the causeless self-arisen, they are not authentically established. Here, the essence of self-arisen wisdom is free from the mind.
