This is the fifth chapter, mainly discussing the great individuals who propagated the teachings of the Sutra, Illusion, and Mind (Do Gyu Sem Sum) through explanation and practice. This is the fifth chapter, mainly discussing the great individuals who propagated the teachings of the Sutra, Illusion, and Mind (Do Gyu Sem Sum) through explanation and practice. Now, regarding the early Nyingma Vajrayana, the biographies of how the holy beings who attained realization and engaged in explanation and practice appeared will be elucidated. Among them, how was the lineage of the great chariot of the Mind Division, the Venerable Vairochana, transmitted? It is said that this venerable one was born near Nyemo Jyekhar, at the confluence of the Nyang River and the Tsang River, or near the village of Tsang Zangkhar, because footprints remained from his childhood; there are two accounts. At the age of eight, he rode on sunbeams between Nakmo Ri and Dragpo Che, effortlessly mastering language and the order of the Dharma, and was therefore renowned as an emanation. Later, the Tsenpo (king) invited him to Samye Monastery, and he underwent sixteen hardships in India, receiving the pith instructions. Initially, he taught the king. Later, he was exiled to Tsawa Rong, where he taught Yudra Nyingpo at Gyalrong Drak Lha Gonpo Monastery. After that, he taught Sangton Yeshe Lama at Tsarong Tagtse Khar. Then, he taught Pang Sangye Gonpo at Dragmar Gon Dzong Monastery in Tongkhung Rong. Subsequently, he taught Gnyags and Li Za Sherab Dronma in U-Tsang, which is known as the five transmissions. Among them, Gnyags transmitted successively to Sogpo Pelgyi Yeshe, Dra Pelgyi Nyingpo, Lhalung Pelgyi Dorje, Obran Pelgyi Zhonnu, and so on; this is one lineage. Also, Sogpo transmitted to Sangye Yeshe and others; this is another lineage. Furthermore, Tsang Shakya Dorje transmitted to Pang Rakshita, who transmitted to Yarze Zhiram Sherab, who transmitted to Zermo Gelongma, who transmitted to Marpa Sherab Wo, who came to Lhaje to request blessings and was cured of a severe illness. Shangdi Langza Tunpa Darma Sonam healed him, and in return for his kindness, he transmitted the instructions and Mind Division teachings passed down from Vimala, including the Vajra Mirror (Tibetan: རྡོ་རྗེ་མེ་ལོང་།, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्रदर्पण, Sanskrit Romanization: vajradarpaṇa, Literal Meaning: Diamond Mirror), the Stages of the Path (Tibetan: ལམ་རྣམ་བཀོད།, Sanskrit Devanagari: मार्गक्रम, Sanskrit Romanization: mārgakrama, Literal Meaning: Stages of the Path), the profound empowerment instructions, and the Sutra Commentary: Prophecy Vajra (Tibetan: མདོའི་འགྲེལ་བ་ལུང་བསྟན་རྡོ་རྗེ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: सूत्रव्याख्या भविष्यवाणीवज्र, Sanskrit Romanization: sūtra vyākhyā bhaviṣyavajra, Literal Meaning: Sutra Commentary: Prophecy Vajra).

Everything was given. From that, the transmission to Guhyapati (secret lord) Sogphukpa came about in that way. The story of how the master Vairotsana transmitted to Spang Sangye Gonpo and attained the rainbow body completely is as follows: The disciple of the old man Spang was Nganlam Jangchub Gyaltsen. He was a monk of Ral Sumba in Uru, sixty-seven years old, who went to Gyalmo Tagtse Dzong. The Spang father and son asked Gonpo for instructions, and Gonpo gave them, saying, "I will not go to the region; meditate at Wa Sengge Drak." He listened to the master's instructions and went there to meditate, and when he reached the age of one hundred and seventy-two, he passed away without leaving a corpse. Then, there appeared a disciple named Zadma Rinchen Dpyig, who was from Upper Dokham. He asked Nganlam for instructions and stayed at that rock, meditating without separating from the lama. When he reached the age of one hundred and forty-four, he passed away without leaving a corpse. Then, from Yarlung Phyo, there appeared a disciple named Khu Gyur Salwai Chog, who was a monk with vows, fifty-seven years old. Zadam Rinchen gave him instructions, and he abandoned the thought of returning home. He stayed at Wa Sengge Drak and meditated. When Khu Gyur Sal reached the age of one hundred and seventeen, he passed away without leaving a corpse. Thus, all three masters, at a place called Sengge Drak, like an illusion, one after another, one after another, fell ill and passed away like a rainbow disappearing. Then, there appeared a disciple named Jangchub Drak, who was from Upper Nyang Yutruk, a monk with vows, forty-two years old. He asked Khu Gyur Sal for instructions and returned. While meditating at Samye Chimphu, he met Nyang Sherab Jungne from Uru Zha, an elderly monk. He said, "I have taken the vows of a monk, and even though I am old and blind, your instructions are so great. Please accept me." Nyang Jangchub Drak gave him all the instructions. He stayed at Phukpoche and Yangdzong. He showed his disciples and grand-disciples the illusory transformation of the exhaustion of the four elements. Finally, he himself, his corpse at Tsang Gya Nyangduekha, is still at Tore Zur of Riwoche, like his body rising into the clouds, he passed away without leaving a corpse. There, Nyang Sherab Jungne
