Ah! By clinging to the notion of self as conceptual thought, a knot is forcefully tied in the sky. To proclaim the Dharma of the Buddha, which is without bondage or liberation, and spontaneously perfect from the beginning, various skillful means are displayed. Thus it is. Even so, the object of appearance is not the mind. Just as the reflection of a face enters a mirror, it is merely a condition arising from interdependence. The face and the mirror never mix. Thus, when a face appears in a mirror, the clarity of the mirror itself serves as the basis for the appearance of the reflection, and it is related to it in the form of a face, or it merely appears due to the condition of the power of the creator's face being assembled. However, the reflection of the face is neither the real face, nor does it create the form of a face from the face. Similarly, the various phenomena that appear in delusion are merely appearing as the interdependence of the cause and condition of delusion, and are not established as external entities. As it is said in the "Arya Samadhiraja Sutra": "Just as in a mirror or a vessel of sesame oil, when a woman looks with an adorned face, the mandala of the face appears in it, but it is neither existent nor non-existent. All dharmas should be known in the same way." Thus it is. If its nature is approached closely, it is the state arising from the gathering of the apprehended and the apprehender. In that appearance of non-existence, there is the deluded mind of clinging. Just as when seeing a variegated rope, one clings to it as a snake, the first consciousness is the object of apprehension, and the subsequent analysis and discernment is the apprehender. Among these, the characteristic of appearance is appearing as non-existent, not exceeding the consciousness of a dream-like state, but the sudden deluded mind of clinging to it as such arises suddenly. For example, taking the external object of the form aggregate as an example, at the first moment of seeing a variegated rope, although it is not a snake, one undoubtedly thinks it is a snake. This is the part of the mind produced by the feeling aggregate, and that first moment is the object of apprehension. The apprehending mind is the mental factor that arises from the subsequent thought and discernment, and is the nature of the aggregate of discrimination. As it is said in the conduct of Avalokiteshvara: "Among these, the apprehended is the mind that clings to the object, and the apprehender arises from the mind that analyzes it." Thus it is. Like this, those who do not understand and have manifest pride, assert that the apprehended is merely the external, coarse object of appearance, and the apprehender is

To refute the great error that arises simply because things appear to be known to oneself. If grasping at what appears as illusion is asserted as the consciousness of the grasper, then even ordinary beings who cannot distinguish between appearance and the object of appearance will also experience existence and non-existence along with the appearance itself. This is the meaning of what was said. Even the great Garuda, the enemy of the serpent of great ignorance, knows this much about grasping and being grasped, as it regards the appearance of a snake as the object to be grasped. Therefore, it increases the sharpness of its consciousness and, after swallowing the crawling creatures, thinks nothing more. Therefore, if the characteristic of the object to be grasped is defined solely as the appearance of things, then even the noble ones who are liberated from grasping and being grasped will lose the appearance of illusion. Furthermore, the countless realms known by the Buddhas, and the appearances into which blessings enter, will have many faults, such as the inability to appear. Therefore, appearance does not bind stones, mountains, and so on, but the attachment to those things themselves, and the grasping mind that regards them as real objects, is bound by the grasping mind. As Tilopa said: Appearance does not bind, attachment binds. Cut off attachment, Naropa! In particular, considering the object of appearance as mind is a huge mistake. Because the object of appearance exists even in the absence of self, and it does not change when transformed into something else. The appearance of colors and so on is opposed to mind and matter. If it is one's own mind, then it should come and go with oneself, existing when oneself exists, and not existing when oneself does not exist. Therefore, the object of appearance, such as earth, stones, mountains, and so on, is regarded as an object, and the first thought of attachment to these things is called appearance. If this root is cut off, then the grasper will naturally become pure. Wherever it may be, the ignorance of grasping and being grasped is a sudden cause. The lord of existence, I and mine, if the root of the non-existent delusion is cut off, then the All-Creating King (Tibetan: ཀུན་བྱེད་རྒྱལ་པོ།) will dissolve into self-arisen self. Thus, the two, grasping and being grasped, are fabricated, sudden minds, the basis for the proliferation of the lord of existence, I and all that is mine. Therefore, cutting off its root, that is, the eight aggregates of consciousness and the corresponding alaya-consciousness, and the unlabelled realm of phenomena, will naturally return and be liberated into the primordial nature. The Garland of Pearls says: Mind is the habitual tendency of
