As it is said, in general, the aggregation of body and mind is impermanent, so do not cling to borrowed things as self. When walking, the road is impermanent, so take steps towards the Dharma. When dwelling, the place is impermanent, so keep the pure realms in mind. Food, drink, and enjoyment are impermanent, so take samadhi as food. When sleeping, sleep is impermanent, so transform delusion into clear light. When wealthy, people and wealth are impermanent, so attend to the seven noble riches. Relatives, friends, and political power are impermanent, so urge yourself to develop renunciation in solitude. Greatness, power, and fame are impermanent, so always take a humble position. The words spoken are impermanent, so urge yourself to recite and chant. Faith and renunciation are impermanent, so strive to keep vows firm. Concepts and thoughts are impermanent, so learn good character. Experiences and realizations are impermanent, so protect the place where the nature of reality is exhausted. Having become accustomed to this, the extent to which attachment is reversed is like a ship sinking in the ocean, like a boat sinking in a river, like a swimmer being pressed down by a wave, like being deceived by a ferryman in a dangerous place, like falling into a nest of poisonous snakes, like being shot in the heart with an arrow, like a criminal being handed over to an executioner, like a wild animal being surrounded, like a big fish being caught in a net, like meeting a wild man face to face, like falling into the throat of a crocodile, like falling into the island of a rakshasi, when a deep revulsion arises towards the phenomena of samsara, one will be liberated from the thought of permanence. The bias of enemies and friends will collapse, the rope of distraction will be cut, diligence will arise naturally, whatever is done will become Dharma, the two accumulations will increase, and unprecedented qualities will arise. The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas also always contemplate this. It is also the most excellent of all qualities. In the Vinaya Sutra, it is said: "It is more excellent to contemplate the impermanence of conditioned phenomena for a moment than to give umbrellas and offerings to a hundred monks." In short, the cause of all worldly wealth, the purity of discipline, the qualities of scripture, and the yoga of generation and completion stages being exhausted in the bardo is because the view of impermanence has not arisen in the mindstream. Because there is no contentment with possessions, greed will not be transformed into merit. Because one has not kept the vows of renunciation, the Pratimoksha vows will be lost, and here one is deceived by the attachment and aversion that appear, hearing, thinking

Do not be exploited by Mara (the demon). Because of attachment to subduing wandering ghosts, it obscures the supreme accomplishment. Therefore, among all perceptions, meditating on impermanence, which is the most excellent, is like the reins of awareness that lead to the path of higher realms and definite goodness. One should generate such certainty. From "The Treasury of Precious Qualities," the commentary on the second chapter, the section on impermanence.
