Furthermore, the instruction of not speaking and not thinking anything (mind, Sanskrit: citta) is: Relax the mind. Keep the body and speech still, as before. Leave the mind uncorrected, relaxed in its natural state. Do not think about anything, do not be distracted, be focused. As it is said, 'If (a wild horse) is bound, it runs in all directions; if unbound, it stays still. I, friend (referring to the consort, Tibetan: rig ma), have seen the wild horse (like that). (Similarly, if this mind is bound too tightly, it scatters; if relaxed, it stays still.) To me, this seems upside down.' That is the instruction of relaxing the mind and staying in self-liberation, like untying a wild horse. Therefore, for all four instructions of cutting off thoughts, it is very important to be focused. The sutra says, 'If the mind is distracted, one cannot even accomplish one's own benefit, let alone the benefit of others. Undistracted focus is the path of all Buddhas of the three times.' By meditating on the three immovabilities in this way, it is said that signs like smoke will appear even in one session. If, in that state, one does not depart from the three immovabilities and does not generate any thoughts, other signs like mirages will also appear. As it is said, 'Completely abandon all thoughts, observe day and night. If credible signs do not appear at that time, then (Bhagavan) I have lied to (sentient beings).' (This is taking a vow). Next is the yoga practitioner of the daytime: After fully seeing the signs of the night, sit in a secluded place with characteristics, choosing a comfortable place. In the morning and afternoon, turn your back to the sun, do not look at where you are, nor look at the place over there, but look at the very clear cloudless sky, or (if there are clouds) look at the space. With the three immovabilities, meditate as before. Do not meditate at noon, because it harms the eyes (or face north). Therefore, let the mind abide in solitude. Second, the signs seen by meditating: By meditating on the yoga of day and night in this way, in the Avadhuti (Sanskrit: Avadhuti, central channel), from the right, the five energies of earth, water, fire, wind, and space gradually gather; from the left, the five energies of space, wind, fire, water, and earth gradually arise. The ten energies naturally enter the central channel. Therefore, the external grasping of objects and the internal grasping of mind become subtle. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When all kinds of coarse thoughts cease, and the samadhi of non-discrimination arises, the definite signs of night yoga are: seeing things like smoke, mirages, fireflies, lamps, cloudless sky, etc. (it is also possible to see various uncertain appearances). The definite signs of day yoga are: seeing things like flames, the moon, the sun, the Rahula wheel, lightning, etc. (various uncertain appearances). (Uncertain appearances mean that whether it is day or night, various empty forms may appear). Then, the bindu of wisdom with signs (referring to the navel chakra where prana merges into the wisdom bindu) appears blue, and the bindu (at the heart chakra) appears as a huge black scene. By meditating like this again and again, (when the prana of the body bindu at the forehead merges), the bindu appears in various empty forms, which is a means of cutting off discrimination. As it is said: 'No matter what, the mind is not moved (by anything), practice the path of smoke, etc.' Third, abandoning sinking and excitement in meditation (divided into two, first the cause of sinking): The sutra says: (The cause of sinking) is hunger (i.e., being hungry), sleep (falling asleep), and fatigue (being tired). (The cause of excitement is) (being stingy with external and internal wealth) attachment to power and attachment to enjoyment, as well as wealth, the sound of praise (the beauty of) and Dharma (speaking and listening) and lineage (superiority), etc. That person (the person practicing this path) should know these ten faults and abandon them.' Therefore, all causes of sinking and excitement should be abandoned before practicing. If sinking occurs, one should sit comfortably on the seat, sit in the lotus position, adjust the posture, place both hands on the knees, (first exhale through the mouth) then inhale vigorously through both nostrils, holding the breath as much as possible. When it is unbearable, exhale vigorously through the mouth and nose at the same time. Repeat this again and again, adjust the posture, look upwards and practice. If excitement occurs, one should immediately visualize oneself as the yidam deity, and light radiates from the seed syllable in the heart, touching all the outer and inner world, transforming it into light. The light is drawn back and touches oneself, and oneself also transforms into light. Like this (like sowing seeds in an empty field), gradually becoming smaller and smaller, gradually contracting, visualizing emptiness, adjusting the posture, looking downwards and practicing. By doing this repeatedly, sinking and excitement can be eliminated.
