Recognition and non-objectification, like indivisible space, the nature of profundity and peace, this is the teaching of the stages of enlightenment. Meaning: Such a state of Mahamudra is truly devoid of any elaborations or characteristics. Since external objects are unborn, appearances are self-liberated into the Dharmadhatu. Since inner consciousness is non-objectifying, thoughts are self-liberated into great wisdom. The secret of non-duality of grasping and being grasped, transcending mind, is vast and equal, so the Dharmakaya of profundity, peace, and freedom from elaboration is manifested. Second, the meaning of Mahamudra, which is the inseparability of samsara and nirvana, is taught. Like the continuous flow of a great river, whatever is practiced is meaningful. This is the constant Buddha, samsara is nowhere, and great bliss is present. As it is said in the "Two Examinations": This itself is called samsara, this itself is nirvana. Having abandoned samsara, elsewhere, nirvana cannot be realized. As it is said in the "Union Tantra": Abandoning the clinging to self and other, it is the wisdom of one's own awareness. The nature of reality and non-reality is supreme, the union equal to space is without dust. Desire and non-desire are mixed, skillful means and wisdom are extremely mixed. That is the life of all beings, that is the unchanging holy one, that is what pervades everything. That is the wisdom of the Buddha, called glorious Heruka. This, that, and anything else are fine. Reality and non-reality arise from this. And also: The name of the accumulation of many sufferings, other than this, there is not even a little. The cause of the arising of endless bliss, other than that, there is nowhere to go. Those who desire to exhaust all suffering, and those who desire to attain the supreme bliss of perfect Buddhahood, should make their minds firm and practice diligently. Its nature should be without things. As long as the thick curtain of the darkness of conceptualization obscures the minds of beings, so long is suffering endless. As long as it is separated from that, so long is great bliss vast and undifferentiated. The ultimate of all equality, pleasing to the noble ones, because it is exhausted by that, one's own actions also, are vast, and one also sees one's own realm of activity. Meaning: The yogi who realizes the nature of Mahamudra, like the uninterrupted flow of a great river, constantly in

Since it does not go beyond what has been originally established, whatever is practiced is meaningful. This is because it is always inseparable from the intention of all Buddhas. Samsara is nowhere to be found, attaining the great bliss beyond suffering, manifesting the result of the inseparability of samsara and nirvana. Third, the meaning of the ultimate Mahamudra is explained: All dharmas are empty of their own nature. The mind that grasps emptiness is purified in its own place. By being free from mind and not making an effort, this is the path of all Buddhas. As it is said in the Samputa Tantra: Do not meditate on emptiness, nor should you meditate on non-emptiness. The yogi does not abandon emptiness, nor should he completely abandon non-emptiness. From grasping emptiness and non-emptiness, subtle discriminations will arise. From the Vinayasamuccaya: Having made the mind without mind, do not think even a little. Seated on the seat, by the grace of the lama, practice correctly. Just as space and sky are the same, the mind should be meditated as one taste. By holding meditation, one will surely be liberated. Completely abandon the practice of speculation. Likewise, how does the mind distinguish between one and other in the absence of mind? If the wisdom of existence and non-existence is abandoned, where does the nature of co-emergent joy manifest? The meaning is: Thus, all phenomena of grasping and being grasped that appear are empty of their own nature. The obscuration of the knowing mind that grasps emptiness is also naturally purified, so by being free from mind and not making an effort, this is the wonderful secret path of all Buddhas who have gone, are dwelling, and will come in the three times. Since the basis to be realized and the result to be obtained are not different from this, the three, basis, path, and result, are inseparable, and this should be known as the ultimate meaning of Mahamudra. Thus, having established the self-liberation of appearances and existence, the inseparability of samsara and nirvana, and the ultimate transcendence of mind as the spontaneously accomplished nature of the result Mahamudra. Third, the conclusion is divided into three parts: advice to the fortunate, the connection of aspiration prayers, and the adornment of the end with a colophon. The first is: For those with supreme fortune, I have condensed my heart's words into writing. As it is said in the Glorious Stainless Tantra: In particular, what I have explained in brief is, with the desire to benefit the ignorant, the heart

Hereafter is the teaching. The meaning is: For those who are able to integrate the essence of Vajrayana into the secret path, and who possess excellent faith and merit, I, Naropa Pandit, with the Great Seal like extracting the heart and placing it in the palm of the hand, the words of non-contrivance, summarized in concise words, are declared. The reason for such a declaration is that, for those with initial karma, those of inferior intelligence who are unable to study the profound and extensive scriptures, with compassion, like extracting butter from milk, the key points of the instructions are summarized and presented in an introductory manner. Secondly: May all beings benefit from this, and may they abide in the Great Seal. As it is said in the Two Examinations: Emptiness and compassion are inseparable, and are called Bodhicitta. The Tantra says: May all sentient beings be happy, may all sentient beings be without harm, by whatever path they may be liberated, may they quickly attain Buddhahood. The meaning is: The essence of the emptiness of the Great Seal has not wavered, and this treatise has been composed with the great compassion of the unapprehended radiance. May all beings temporarily obtain happiness, and ultimately obtain the supreme benefit, and may they travel by the vehicle of the path of the Great Seal, in which emptiness and compassion are inseparable, and may they abide in the fruit of the four bodies, and may they spontaneously accomplish the two benefits. Thirdly: The great scholar Naropa gave it to Marpa Chokyi Lodro at Phulla Hari. This is easy to understand. This is also the chapter of glorious Khachod Wangpo, and the seventh Dharma Chak Gyatso's teachings, etc., combined in one place, in a concise manner, composed by the yogi Manjughosha. May goodness increase! The Vajra words of glorious Naropa, the concise oral instructions of the Great Seal, combined with the teachings of the Tantras, the main explanation of the easy-to-understand small commentary.
