A Concise Teaching on Abandoning and Adopting, Called the Nectar Rain of Dharma. A Concise Teaching on Abandoning and Adopting, Called the Nectar Rain of Dharma. A Concise Teaching on Abandoning and Adopting. This is the Dharma called the Nectar Rain of Dharma. Om Swasti Siddham. To the immeasurable Buddhas and their sons, and to the noble Lama Manjushri, And to all the mothers pervading the sky, we prostrate with faith. With attachment to benefiting others, possessing excellent virtuous intention, as white as the root of a snow lotus, I will speak of just a few points on abandoning and adopting, please listen with joy. Eliminate all the thorns of meaningless talk like "ki" and the various distractions of the mind, And the improper conduct of the body, such as loud noises, and all negative actions. Adorned with saffron fruits, on the mountain slopes pleasing to the righteous, Train in the footsteps of the holy ones through the wondrous activities of reading and abandoning. How to uphold pure morality, the foundation of individual liberation vows is firm, Like a lotus, the aspiration and practice Bodhicitta, which is pleasing to the mind, grows. Not decaying, all ordinary things are bound into mantra, weighed down by fruit. Abandon all activities such as buying and selling, and attend to the four noble lineages. To cut off the dependence on others, who are ignorant of what to abandon and adopt, like a tira animal, From the two treatises of Thumi onwards, and all common sciences, And all the definitive secrets of the Sutra and Tantra Pitakas, well spoken by the Tathagata, By training for the sake of Nopi's practice, may you gain the glory that pleases the wise. Lute Unable to be expressed by the melody of sweet sounds, may you have power over explaining the ocean of treatises, Like a gently flowing waterfall, may the inexhaustible garland of compositions adorn your throat. Standing tall like the branches of a Betapa tree, all the vows of a thousand opponents, In the footsteps of the darkness of ignorance, roar the sound of the lion of debate. In order to eliminate the five faults that cause suffering, like the Chitraka, And to manifest the wisdom of the noble ones, which can never be seen from this shore, In the peaceful forest like Jeta Grove, rely on the eight practices of abandonment, Not even the river goddess Jiha can speak of it, may you be immersed in the bliss of meditation. Not attached to peace, not dwelling at the end of existence, with love and wisdom, at the edge of samsara and nirvana, A sign of equality like Zucha.

In the Nyingma tradition, without differentiating the profound wisdom of Madhyamaka, with the pleasant speech of "E," practice all the perfections such as generosity, and relying on the supreme path of Mahayoga, may you attain the state of union in this life. May the Bodhicitta, as stable as the King of Mountains, and propelled by the power of wisdom and compassion, unceasingly like a stream of water, don the armor of altruistic courage. May you place all mothers, wandering in the dense and perilous forest, on the excellent path of liberation, and with firm vows, please the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Like a pile of snow mountains, based on the foundation of pure white and excellent motivation, like the Udadhī cloud (Sanskrit: Udadhī, IAST: udadhi, literal meaning: ocean), with pleasant speech, may the rain of the nectar of Dharma fall, and with the encouragement of the word "Kye Hey," may all beings enter the path of benefit and happiness in an instant. Like medicine (Tibetan: སྨན།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओषधि, IAST: oṣadhi, literal meaning: medicine), may you eliminate the disease of afflictions and quickly attain the state of omniscience. Thus, with the vowel "A" determined, and with the thirty Tibetan letters adorned and combined with the four vowels, it is difficult to express, but it can briefly express all the teachings of what should be adopted and abandoned by the wise who desire liberation. This short speech is made by Khyentse Wangpo, a servant pleasing to Jamyang Lama, on the first day of the white side at the beginning of the auspicious White New Year, may it be meaningful. ༈ །། Om Swasti. (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་སྭ་སྟི།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, IAST: oṃ svasti, literal meaning: Om, auspicious!) The summary meaning of this brief teaching on adoption and abandonment can be briefly explained in three parts: the beginning, the main body, and the conclusion. The beginning has four parts: stating the title, auspicious words, prostration, and vowing to compose. Respectively indicated by "Adoption and Abandonment" etc., "Om Swasti Siddham (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་སྭ་སྟི་སིདྡྷཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, IAST: oṃ svasti siddhaṃ, literal meaning: Om, auspicious, accomplishment!)" etc., "Immeasurable" etc., "Altruism" etc. The latter also includes clear indications of things. The second has three parts: briefly indicating the places of adoption and abandonment, extensively explaining the places to be adopted, and summarizing the meaning by the method of accomplishing benefit for others. The first is: Ki etc., the etc. of speech. The second has two parts: the way to enter the precious Dharma of the Buddhas, and how the basis of entering the Dharma should practice hearing, thinking, and meditation. The first is: How etc. The second has two parts: encouraging the method of reading, hearing, and thinking, and the method of abandoning meditation.
