Om. The Buddha-field called "Samanta Prabha Buddha Bhumi" (Sanskrit: Samanta Prabha Buddha Bhumi, meaning: Universally Shining Buddha Land) radiates many rays of light, causing all sentient beings to be tamed and ripened, and because the appearance of the Dharma is like light, it illuminates everything, hence it is called "Buddha-field Universally Shining." Also, the term "Śīla" (Sanskrit: Śīla, meaning: discipline) comes from "Śāla samārdo," meaning to engage in good conduct and strictly maintain discipline, abandoning non-virtue. Another explanation is "Śītala Tācīl," meaning to pacify the suffering of afflictions and become cool, which actually refers to the name of not engaging in non-virtue through behavior and guarding the precepts, which is called discipline. "Samara" (Sanskrit: Samara, meaning: tranquility) refers to not committing non-virtuous deeds with body, speech, and mind, and is the name of restraining and guarding, hence it is called "restraint." Furthermore, "Bodhi" (Sanskrit: Bodhi, meaning: enlightenment) is "enlightenment." "Pakṣa" (Sanskrit: Pakṣa, meaning: side) refers to that which is in accordance with or inclined towards it. From mindfulness to the eightfold noble path, there are thirty-seven dharmas, and these are inclined towards the three enlightenments, hence they are called the "thirty-seven factors of enlightenment." Thus it is said. The etymological explanations of these terms are very important, so please study them diligently. Moreover, the text called "Detailed Explanation" is a collection of various names in the 130th order.
