The instructions of Kunkhyen Bodongpa, the Thubpa Do Cho practice, a record of the meditation instructions, the essence of the Lama's heart. The instructions of Kunkhyen Bodongpa, the Thubpa Do Cho practice, a record of the meditation instructions, the essence of the Lama's heart. The instructions of Kunkhyen Bodongpa, the Thubpa Do Cho practice, a record of the meditation instructions, the essence of the Lama's heart. Namo Guru Shakyamuniye. Here, I will briefly record the meditation instructions known as the Do Cho, which were directly bestowed by the great Thubpa, a profound and pure vision of Kunkhyen Bodongpa's Dharma teachings, in two parts: briefly explaining the general meaning, and the method of actually practicing the instructions. The first part is: As the Lord, the master of yoga, Milarepa said: "Wandering in dangerous places and hermitages is the outer Cho. Transforming the body into food is the inner Cho. Cutting through the one and only root is the ultimate Cho." As it is said, like this, understanding that all appearing phenomena are merely appearances, not inherently existent, with an illusion-like samadhi, wandering in uncertain places such as dangerous places and hermitages is the outer Cho, taking asceticism as the path. In such places, raising awareness into the expanse, and circling the illusory body feast, without any fear or hesitation, possessing the confidence of view and understanding, transforming the body into food with the samadhi of courageous advancement is the inner Cho, taking the two truths as the path. In all of these times, knowing the outer object of grasping as self-appearance, realizing the inner grasping mind as unborn, the secret is the union of expanse and awareness, deep and clear, inseparable, not straying from the state of the Great Seal, cutting off the arrogance of self-grasping, cutting through the one and only root with a vajra-like samadhi is the ultimate Cho, taking the ultimate expanse and awareness as the path. Relying on these three samadhis, the ground is emptiness, the path is signlessness, the result is wishlessness, thus realizing the equality of the three times through the three doors of liberation. Knowing the past lives, knowing death, transference, and birth, knowing the exhaustion of defilements having attained the tolerance of non-birth, thus manifesting the three knowledges, and thus the meaning of the Victorious Mother, the Perfection of Wisdom, will be manifested in this very life. As Lord Maitreya said: Illusion-like samadhi.

Thus, with the samadhi of courageous conduct and the samadhi like a vajra, may the perfection of meditative concentration be fulfilled! Thus, with the three doors of liberation and the equality of the three times, with the direct realization of the three wisdoms, may the perfection of wisdom be fulfilled! Thus, making aspirations with the means and the manner of arising from the means, etc., should be widely known. Second, the manner of actually practicing the instructions has three parts: preliminaries, main practice, and concluding practice. First, the preliminaries have three parts: refuge, bodhicitta, and guru yoga. First, refuge is: visualizing all places as a great pure realm, in front of oneself, there is an ocean of nectar with eight branches, in the center of which is a wish-fulfilling tree with five branches born from jewels, in the center are the root and lineage gurus, in front are the yidams, on the right are the Buddhas, behind is the Dharma, on the left is the Sangha, and all around are dakinis and Dharma protectors like clouds. In front of these beings, one and all sentient beings enter through the three doors with the same intention and take refuge, reciting "I and the beings of the three realms," etc., and take refuge as much as possible. Second, bodhicitta is: wishing to attain the state of perfect Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings is aspiration bodhicitta; vowing to train in the profound path for that purpose is action bodhicitta. While keeping the meaning in mind, train the mind with wisdom, compassion, etc., and the four immeasurables. Third, guru yoga is: generating Guru Shakyamuni Buddha on the crown of one's head as the samaya being, inviting the wisdom being to merge, accumulating merit through offerings, and supplicating the root and lineage gurus, etc., as described in the recitation liturgy. When inviting the wisdom being to merge, visualize all the objects of refuge merging into the guru on the crown of the head, becoming the collection of all refuge places. During the offering, visualize oneself and all sentient beings, each emanates offering goddesses equal to the number of dust particles in the world, and offer outer, inner, and secret offerings filling the sky. During the supplication, visualize light radiating from one's heart, inviting all sentient beings of the six realms, and in the form of light, merging into the upper, middle, and lower parts of one's body, visualizing oneself as the essence of all sentient beings of the six realms.
