If one is born as a human or a god in the realm of desire and form, they will see sentient beings similar to themselves. If they go there, the intermediate state will be interrupted due to aversion to the place of birth, and they will connect with the state of birth. However, for those sinners who kill many sheep, pigs, birds, and wild animals, who are destined to be born in hell, they will see sheep and pigs, etc., like in a dream from the intermediate state, and run there with the joy of past habits. Then, due to aversion to the place of birth, the intermediate state is interrupted, and they will be transferred to the state of birth. Oviparous beings are mostly similar to viviparous beings, and moisture-born beings crave smells, while spontaneously born beings crave places. If one is born in the hot hell, they crave warmth, and if one is born in the cold hell, they crave coolness. It is said that these are the causes of connection. Secondly, one must understand well how to revolve in samsara through the twelve links of dependent origination, according to the Madhyamaka school. That is, this aggregate is not self, nor is there a person independent of this aggregate who goes to the next world. Rather, it is just an imputation of "I" dependent on the aggregate, which, in an illusory way, revolves in samsara merely conventionally, relying on the twelve links of dependent origination. Therefore, one must understand well the way of revolving in samsara. When revolving in this way, how does this consciousness connect from this life to the next, and what kind of example is there for that? If we explain the way consciousness connects to the next life in an easier way, according to the Mahayana school, as explained in the sutras: When a lama teaches a student to recite "Namo Buddhaya" (Tibetan: ན་མོ་བུདྡྷཱ་ཡ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: नमो बुद्धाय, Sanskrit Romanization: Namo Buddhāya, Chinese literal meaning: Homage to the Buddha) from memory, and the student memorizes it and recites it, it is not that the lama's speech is transferred to the student. If that were the case, the lama would not be able to recite the same speech again. Nor is it that the student's speech arises without relying on the lama's teaching, because if that were the case, it would become causeless. Similarly, when connecting to the next life after death, it is not that the consciousness of death transfers to the consciousness of the next life with an unchanging essence. If that were the case, it would become permanent, and therefore accepting rebirth would also be unreasonable. The consciousness of the next life does not arise without relying on the consciousness of death, because if it did, it would become causeless. Nevertheless, the lama recites

Just as a student's speech arises from the teacher's words, the subsequent consciousness arises from the continuum of the previous consciousness. Just as the teacher's speech and the student's speech cannot be the same, the consciousness at the moment of death in this life and the consciousness that connects to the next life are not the same. Just as the student's speech arises from hearing the teacher's words, the subsequent consciousness also arises dependent on the previous consciousness, and it does not suddenly arise from elsewhere. Similarly, the second flame arising from a candle, the appearance of reflections in a mirror, the emergence of images from molds for deities, the generation of fire from a magnifying glass, the sprouting of seedlings from seeds, the watering of the mouth upon seeing sour fruits, and the echoing of sounds should all be understood using the reasoning explained earlier. Understanding that death and transmigration exist only nominally but not ultimately establishes the Middle Way, free from extremes. Similarly, the arising and ceasing of all conditioned phenomena should be understood in the same way. Secondly, incidentally, according to the system of Anuttarayoga, ignorance, which is rooted in the clinging to true existence, is the basis for wandering in samsara. Relying solely on the extremely subtle wind-mind, karmic imprints are imprinted on the imputed self, leading to rebirth in future lives. As stated in the Vajramala: "Birth, abiding, and destruction, and existence in the intermediate state, as long as the world is bound, the mind is a transformation of wind." This is also the chapter on appropriation. Auspicious! The seed words for the establishment of the Four Noble Truths and Dependent Origination.
