May the blessings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and the wisdom of dependent arising, cause the glorious Lama to live long, and may his activities of benefit and happiness increase greatly. With these auspicious words, I begin. Previously, I offered a small amount of blessed substances, and you showed great joy and boundless compassion. You expressed the wish to spread them widely again, and in connection with this, you placed the precious crown of inquiry upon my head. Until enlightenment, this immeasurable kindness and respect are beyond words. In response, I will offer what I can, to the best of my limited understanding. Generally, \"relic\" refers to something rare, precious, and essential. Regarding relics, the Dharani of the Ornament of Enlightenment mentions four, and the Detailed Ritual mentions five. According to the latter, the relic of the Dharma is considered to be mantras, and the relic of the Dharmakaya is considered to be tsa-tsas. During consecration, it is customary for everyone to offer all five of these relics. Among them, the four relics other than tsa-tsas are all gathered together and called \"the combined relics,\" which is well known. Making pills of each of the four relics separately may not have been very common before, but in reality, everyone agrees that the combined relic pill contains all four relics. Therefore, there is no conflict in making separate pills, and there are many advantages, such as presenting their forms more clearly. Therefore, in the Kham region, some Vajra Holders have begun to adopt this practice. Similarly, Jamyang Khyentse Lodrö Thayé, the all-knowing and all-seeing Lama, also promoted this practice with his diligent efforts, reliable sources, and pure materials, and determined its meaning through a detailed catalog. Based on this, you inquired about practices and methods of accomplishment, etc. First, when collecting mustard seed-sized relics, the relics..." } ] ============================================================

Grinding finely into powder and meticulously grinding it with incense and other substances in a mortar has been the customary practice in all instances of making sacred substance pills and precious pills since ancient times. No one has ever questioned whether there was any fault in this. Upon careful analysis, the excellent intention of widely spreading the relics into the fields of merit for gods and humans is evident. Since the Tathagatas and others are not weary of that region, there is not only no fault, but the relics of the Tathagata will increase. Based primarily on such prophecies, the relics of the Tathagata are treated like the relics of a Chakravartin king, and it is permitted to place them in containers and cremate them. Considering this, the relics, like mustard seeds, can spread throughout all the realms of gods and humans through many large containers, and they are propagated again through such suggestive means. Placing these within sacred objects and engaging in practice in the fields of merit for gods and humans also clearly aligns with the teachings of the Buddha, and I believe this has vast benefits. If there is fault in any way, then cremating the relics and crushing the ashes would also have the same fault, which seems excessive. Apart from sending similar bases for propagation after analyzing with wisdom, there is no special source. Therefore, Gangtik, which is said to be the relics of a Bodhisattva, is mainly used. In addition, cinnabar, stalactites, white clay from stupas, and other similar six good medicines can be added without conflict. If there are too many, it will be difficult to achieve a white color. It seems important to include vow nectar from non-empowerment lineages and high-quality blessings. After the pills are completed, the method of practice is as follows: Generally, in the Nyingma tradition, during practices such as the Seven Rebirth Pill practice and the Great Ambrosia practice, a raised throne is set up in front of the mandala. Then, a skull cup or a precious base container is placed on it as appropriate, and one practices inseparable from the deity, opening the Japa Khang, etc., uniting with the deity. There are no special methods of practice for each of the blessings, descents, and stabilizations. As for the Sarma tradition, during practices such as the Hevajra and Guhyasamaja pujas, it is placed respectfully near the front mandala.
