When he reached the age of three, he was like an eight-year-old youth. Then, in the Mahāmegha Sutra, before the Tathāgata Nāgabuddhi-pradīpa, I vowed: In the future, may I, Shakyamuni, renounce the kingdom and become a renunciate. Due to the power of this aspiration, he folded his hands and prayed to his parents: Alas! Even with methods and power, one cannot escape from birth, old age, sickness, and death. Therefore, I will draw near to the Buddha, please grant me permission to enter the path of renunciation. Then, the king felt uneasy like an elephant struck by a poisoned arrow, and said: Beloved son, why do you suddenly have the thought of abandoning us? Who, which holy person, has instilled such a thought in you? Then, the youth, shedding tears, said: King, parents, please listen to me. The numerous armies of men, horses, and elephants can effortlessly conquer all enemy forces. But they cannot defeat the one lord of death. A mad elephant with its sharp trunk and claws, destroying the stables of the castle and all the soldiers, can destroy all enemy forces. But when the lord of death comes, it will fall. The lion's claws, like burning iron hooks, striking the top of the elephant's head, can tear it apart. A loud sound can frighten others, but when the lord of death comes, strength will wane and it will lie down. An angry great snake with the venom of its fangs can kill beings and pierce people. Even if skilled in anger, when the lords of death come, it will curl its tongue, clench its teeth, and be unable to move. The Garuḍa spreading its wings, in the ocean, destroying small dragons and numerous fish, seizing their necks. With great power, it can even destroy dragons. But when the fierce lord of death comes, it cannot destroy. A tigress chasing fleeing wild animals in the forest, with claws like burning vajras, can tear flesh and blood with just one strike. But when the lord of death comes, it will lower its head without resistance. Among the crowd, even a magician can deceive people's eyes. But for the lords of death, how can they deceive their eyes with magical objects and mantras? Therefore, the Teacher of gods and humans, the Bhagavan, is an extremely rare and supreme refuge.

Homage to the Buddha! I am going to obtain the fruit of longevity. Please grant me unobstructed access to enlightenment. After saying this, all the kings and subjects went to the Bhagavan's Galava, made offerings, and were very happy to see the youth Drishyanandana. Moreover, in the Sutra of the Great Nirvana, it is said: For all sentient beings, the arhat, the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, the close cause is the virtuous friend, there is nothing more important than this. Etc., many benefits were spoken. The inner circle of the Bhagavan, the Shravaka Sangha, the Licchavi youth Drishyanandana, became the one who is pleasing to see by all beings in the world. Constantly accompanying the Buddha for thirty years. After that, after the Tathagata passed into complete nirvana, in order to practice meditation single-pointedly, he went to the Buddha Hari cave on the outskirts of Varanasi. There he met the noble Avinivartaniya, and Avinivartaniya asked: Drishyanandana, where are you going? The youth replied: The sun of the Dharma is near the top of the western mountain, non-dharma like a shadow is increasing, this life is impermanent and will surely be destroyed, therefore I am going to practice in a solitary place. Avinivartaniya said: Drishyanandana, youth of Licchavi, in order to repay the kindness of the Victorious One, shouldn't you always turn the wheel of Dharma? For the benefit of the teachings, please teach the Dharma. The youth said: In the Great Enlightenment Sutra it is also said: After I pass away, among human beings, if there is someone who can believe that the Tathagatagarbha exists in all sentient beings, that is repaying the kindness of the Buddha. Therefore, I am going to a solitary place. After saying this, he went to the place of Buddha Hari, and for seven years he meditated single-mindedly, attained the state of an Arhat, arose from samadhi, opened the eye of wisdom, and looked in all directions. In the city of Magadha, there was a daughter of King Sadakara named Padma Chandramati, who was tormented by lust and thought only of those things. In order to fulfill these, he went there. That girl was very beautiful in appearance, adorned with ornaments, on the way to fetch water.
