Those who dwell in the land of the hare-lipped, the eloquent and wise, they have become the eyes of us all. Thus, the early translators are praised as having become the eyes of later scholars. Later, when the system of proofreading was well established, faith in the Dharma also increased, and the distinction between good and evil was known even by the color of black ox bile. Although there were some rises and falls in the teachings, there was no need to endure the hardships of former times. However, their power and wealth were not like those of later translators, because they were completely renounced and did not accumulate possessions. However, their livelihood was provided from above, and all the necessary conditions for translating the Dharma (upper part, p. 276) were provided by the king, such as loads of gold. Because there was no lack of resources, it is said that there was no need to strive and toil. However, the kindness of those well-known translators and paṇḍitas of the later dissemination of the teachings in continuing the lifeblood of the teachings is immeasurable. In other respects, in some autobiographies of the New School, there were also paṇḍitas and Tibetan translators who took the title themselves in front of the Jowo (Lord) of Kyirong (སྐྱིད་གྲོང་), and became khenpos in Tibet, who pretended to be proficient in the Dharma and regarded jealousy as a treasure. Therefore, it is not appropriate for someone like me to comment on the words of the wise, but as the great translator Dpang said: "The activities of the wise, like the sun, are like a firefly carrying a flame. It is not appropriate to imitate them, but because the intention is pure, there is no fault." Thus, even if the commentary is slightly excessive, if there is a mistake, I will not hide it, but will confess it. From the good explanation that clarifies the origin of the essence of the teachings, the Great Secret Early Translation, the profound Dharma of definitive meaning, from the "Playful Ocean of Wonderful Stories that Delight the Wise," the manner in which the precious teachings spread in both India and Tibet, is the second part. (Upper part, p. 277) Second General Meaning: How the Buddha's teachings spread in India, Tibet, and other places.
