If those (valid cognitions) are established, speech will cease. If the difference is that, please explain the special characteristic of the reason. How can fire illuminate itself as it illuminates others, just as it illuminates others? Then, can valid cognitions also prove their own existence? The answer is that this is not the same, like a vase in a dark room, because it is not seen, it cannot be determined. Therefore, fire cannot illuminate itself. If, according to your statement, fire can illuminate itself, then fire will also burn itself as it burns other things. If, according to your statement, fire can illuminate itself and others, then darkness will also obscure itself and others like fire. The burner and the burned are different, and where there is fire, there is no darkness. If the illuminator can dispel darkness, then how does it illuminate? If it is said that the appearance of fire can illuminate, that is incorrect, because the appearance of fire simply does not encounter darkness. Or, even if it does not encounter fire, it can dispel darkness, then anything that exists here can dispel all the darkness in the world. If valid cognition is established from itself, without relying on the objects to be measured, then the valid cognition that you have established is self-existent and does not rely on others. If your valid cognition can be established without relying on the objects to be measured, then these valid cognitions will not belong to anyone. If you admit that it depends on the objects to be measured to be established, then what fault is there? Because it does not depend on the unestablished, it can be established. If valid cognition depends on the objects to be measured to be established, then, without relying on valid cognition, the objects to be measured can also be established. If the objects to be measured can be established without relying on valid cognition, then, since they have already been established, what is the use of your valid cognition being established? If your valid cognition depends on the objects to be measured to be established, then your valid cognition and the objects to be measured will necessarily depend on each other. If you think that the establishment of valid cognition can make the objects to be measured established, and the establishment of the objects to be measured can prove valid cognition, then neither of you can be established. If valid cognition and the objects to be measured can be established, and the objects to be measured can also prove them, then how can they be proved? If the objects to be measured can make valid cognition established, and valid cognition can also prove them, then how can they be proved? If the father can give birth to the son, and the son can also give birth to the father, then, please tell me, who gave birth to whom? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both of them, holding the characteristics of father and son, therefore, I have doubts about them, from among them, who is the father? Who is the son? Please tell. Valid cognitions (pramāṇa) are established independently, not relying on others, Valid cognitions are not established by others, are not the objects of valid cognition, and are not without cause. One who is skilled in the state of phenomena, by what virtue of the virtuous phenomena is the nature of all phenomena? Thus, to distinguish well is what should be said. If the nature of virtuous phenomena, some are dependently arising, In that case, it is for the sake of others, how can it become its own essence? Or, the nature of virtuous phenomena does not rely on anything to arise, In that case, the practice of celibacy (brahmacarya) will not be established. If there is no cause, it is permanent, and all phenomena will become permanent. There is no dharma and non-dharma, and there is no worldly term. Non-virtue and the unspecified, as well as liberation, etc., also have such faults. Therefore, all your conditioned phenomena will become unconditioned phenomena. If someone says that there is something with self-nature, then you should answer that I do not say that my name exists. What is called nameless, does it exist or not? If it exists or does not exist, both of your statements are ruined. The emptiness of all things has been explained before, therefore, for those who have no tenets, they also seek any refutation. Or, if there is self-nature, but it does not exist in phenomena, this doubt is not reasonable, but this doubt is made by you. If you are preventing existence, then emptiness will be established, because things have no self-nature, and you are preventing it. The emptiness that you are preventing, if that emptiness also does not exist, then is it not ruined to say that you are preventing existence? Because there is nothing to be refuted, I do not refute anything. Therefore, saying that I am refuting is not true, it is what you said. Without words, the words of refutation that do not exist are not established, if so, in this place where there are no words, it can make understanding, not rejection. Regarding the simile of illusion, you have also said many arguments, and you should also listen to how the determination of that simile is established. If holding has self-nature, then it should not arise dependently. If holding arises dependently, is it not emptiness? If holding has self-nature, who can stop that holding? For the rest, know it in the same way. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
