To pacify all inauspiciousness, and to gather all collections of merit, excellence, and auspiciousness, is the Sutra called "The Great Stack of Qualities." Hold it thus. Manjushri, this ritual is for: constructing palaces and temples for the Three Jewels, constructing stupas and bumpas (one hundred thousand stupas), constructing relics and scriptures, consecrating scriptures and so on, newly building and laying the foundation of towns and houses, the birth of sons and daughters, giving and receiving daughters in marriage, funerals, offerings for the dead, burials, and also for averting and transforming all faults such as other inauspicious and bad omens. One should offer clean and delicious food, or various grains such as barley, rice, sesame, etc., or fruits, or grain essence honey, or butter, or sugar, etc. By the merit of this benefit, all inauspiciousness will be thoroughly pacified, as follows: From the mouth of the Buddha spoken, The aspiration prayer of the Stack of Auspiciousness. By the merit of well-spoken words, May all ignorance and faults be pacified. In this life, may we have happiness and longevity, May we obtain auspiciousness, glory, and merit. Having perfect enjoyment and abundance, In the next life, may we obtain the unsurpassed fruit. After thus declaring, the auspicious retinue, including those of the mundane and supramundane realms, and the retinue of gods, humans, asuras, etc., rejoiced in what the Bhagavan had spoken and paid homage to the Tathagata. Thus concludes the noble "Stack of Auspiciousness," the King of Sutras of the Great Vehicle, adorned with qualities. Translated and revised by the Indian Abbot Jinamitra, Surendrabodhi, and the Lotsawa Yeshe De of Zhuchen. ༈ The differences here from the earlier versions are written on something like old Chinese yellow paper, found unrevealed in a crevice of a rock called "Unindicated." After careful examination, it appears to be like this. Written in amazement by the head mantra master, may it be the cause of auspiciousness, happiness, increase, and stability in all times.
