After sending three gifts, the last one was a seamless brocade robe with four palbeu (Tibetan transliteration, dpal be'u) sewn on the chest, and the letter said: The Indian Dharma-protecting King is the lord of the teachings, by the power of the fruits of merit accumulated in the past, possessing immeasurable power and wealth, is the treasure of the Dharma, governing the country with wish-fulfilling enjoyment, power, and benefit and happiness. You reside in India, which is superior to other places, accumulating merit and not being stingy with offerings. We, the king of the borderland China, have no Buddha's teachings, no image of the teacher, and my country has no opportunity to practice Dharma. Please grant me the image of the Bhagavan, the size of a twelve-year-old, and the five sutras and a sangha of four monks. Please grant it to me with compassion! It is said. The king thought: My country has Mahayana Buddhism, the relics of the Buddha, and many Shravaka Arhats. Their country does not have these, so the Dharma in my country will not decline, and the Dharma in their country will surely flourish. Thinking that he should pray to Jowo (Tibetan transliteration, jo bo) himself to send it. So he came to Jowo, and Jowo's face, which was originally facing south, was now looking east. Knowing that Jowo was very happy to go to China. So on a large ship, Jowo and the Three Jewels were placed, and a tent of silk and jewels was set up on top, and countless music and gorgeous silks were made. Sending the boat from a river that flows into China, the king replied: Alas, Chinese King, please listen! This image of the teacher that I worship was made by the patron god Indra, the material is made of ten kinds of jewels, the craftsman is Vishvakarman (Sanskrit Devanagari: विश्वकर्म, Sanskrit Romanization: Viśvakarman, Chinese literal meaning: all-creating), and the consecration was done by the Buddha himself. Such an unparalleled lord of the victorious ones, if seen, heard, remembered, touched, prayed to, the Buddha said that one would quickly attain Buddhahood. Such a Jowo with merits, although cherished like the heart of my body, but because your gift and command are very important, in order to make the sentient beings of that place virtuous, I offer the sacred object that I worship to you. Please worship with faith and reverence! Thus it was sent. Then the Chinese...

The king joyfully welcomed and invited them with a grand reception, enabling the spread of the sacred Dharma in that remote region. A thousand years later, the emanation of the noble Avalokiteśvara, the Dharma King Songtsen Gampo, came to this land and married Princess Wencheng, the daughter of Emperor Taizong of the Tang dynasty, who was an emanation of Tara, as part of her dowry. At that time, Princess Wencheng said to her father the king, "If you, my father, are to send me to Tibet, that snowy land is cold and barren, and the soil is rough. The snow mountains are like the fangs of fierce beasts, and the rocky mountains are like the horns of wild yaks. No grains grow, and there is constant famine. It is inhabited by the Rakshasa race who eat flesh, and the people are uncivilized and barbaric. That remote region has not been trodden by the feet of the Buddha, and it is a dark land without Dharma. There are no objects of worship, nor places to accumulate merit. If I must go to such a place, please grant me the Shakyamuni Buddha statue, the deity I worship. The snowy land is a place of hunger, please grant me a treasure trove. Please grant me a garment that can keep me warm for a lifetime. Tibet is a barbaric land that does not understand cleanliness, please grant me maidservants as companions. Thus, in that remote region, how should I conduct myself?" After she finished speaking, the king replied, "My daughter, who is like my eyes, Tibet is a special land that surpasses others. The snow mountains are like precious crystal stupas, and the four seas are like a mandala of turquoise spread out. It is a land where wondrous golden lotuses bloom, and four rivers flow, adorned with trees and forests. Five grains grow there, and various treasures are produced. All four-legged creatures first partake of the plants there. In that wondrous land, in the beautiful palace, resides the human king, Avalokiteśvara, created by the gods. He is brave and wise, and his retinue are all Bodhisattvas. They abide by the ten virtues, and their power and wealth flourish. Daughter, go to such a place. This statue of the Teacher, which I worship, was made by the patron deity Indra, composed of ten kinds of precious materials, crafted by the artisan Vishvakarman, and consecrated by the Buddha himself. This unparalleled image of the Victorious One, if seen, heard, remembered, touched, or prayed to, the Buddhas have said, will swiftly attain Buddhahood."
