One should examine in that way. By turning inward to examine the mind of the seeker, all grasping and clinging that appear as the place of arising and the one who arises, the object of seeking and the seeker, since one cannot find an essence to confirm, the causes and conditions are without place, without support. This is a sign of becoming clear in a state beyond all speaking, thinking, expressing, and promising, abiding in the body. It is realizing and establishing the nature of mind, which is free from confirmation, emptiness of essence, the unborn Dharmakaya. Examining the place of dwelling and the one who dwells. Second, examining the place of dwelling and the one who dwells: As before, thoroughly investigate where the mind currently dwells, whether it is external or internal, the vessel and essence, which part of the body, etc. If the thought arises, "It dwells here," then divide it into parts and particles to observe. For example, if one thinks it dwells in the heart, then in which part does it dwell, the tip of the heart, the root, the muscles and fat, the blood and membrane, etc.? What is the shape, color, function, symbol, and essence of the object of dwelling that can be confirmed? Are the mind that is to be realized and the consciousness that realizes it the same or different, etc.? If one examines well, as a sign of accomplishment, one will find that there is no place of dwelling or support anywhere, and that it is not established in any form, therefore it is free from confirmation. Although consciousness is clear and apparent, its self-nature is not established, and it is established in the great primordial emptiness without root or foundation, and realizes the unceasing Sambhogakaya. At this time, on the three doors, due to the proximate cause of feeling, whatever signs of experience and touch arise, appearing as if they exist there, this is caused by the aggregate of formation as the cause, by sudden conceptual thoughts as the condition, and due to attachment to the object of grasping, the fruit of the master matures. When the object of grasping and the grasping mind are emptied and exhausted, one can be free from fear and anxiety, and it is said that this is also accomplished in this way. Examining the place of going and the one who goes. Third, examining the place of going and the one who goes: After that, for the thought that the mind arises like a brick and disappears like smoke, one should also observe where this mind goes, whether it is external or internal, the vessel and essence, appearance and emptiness, existence or non-existence, etc. Since there is no place to go, one is certain that the appearance of external objects is created by the mind. Examining the mind of the one who goes, one will also be certain that the grasper has no self-nature because it is free from confirmation. Since the three causes of the arising, dwelling, and going of the mind have disappeared, one abandons the thoughts that cling to hope and worry. The nature of mind is awareness-emptiness, great compassion, liberated from coming and going.

Having understood that one is free from errors and the like, one finds firm belief that enlightenment will not be attained through practicing Dharma. The mind to be observed, the wise one who observes, and the place where the mind goes, all transcend thought, speech, and intellect. Without clinging to distinct entities and different appearances, sever all imputations. Thus, as a sign of having mastered mind training, the nest of delusion collapses, and the house of the mind crumbles. Knowing the essence of awareness and finding faith from within, awareness is established in the emptiness-clarity essence, unwavering. One encounters the continuous stream of the Buddha's emanation body without interruption. Through this, one discerns all dualistic phenomena such as appearance and emptiness, arising and ceasing, and by exposing their weaknesses, one collectively purifies the mental obscurations of the mind. Because of realizing the emptiness of the mind, one is not obstructed by obstacles. In particular, because the mind's clinging is reversed, one will not mistakenly wander into samsara again. Ultimately, one is liberated in the great liberation that is inseparable from the Dharmakaya. The mind and intellect are perfected in the Vajra heart, thereby entering into Nirvana. Resting Naturally and Returning to Original Position Resting the Three Doors Naturally The fourth part is divided into two parts: resting naturally and returning to the original position. The first part, resting the three doors naturally, is divided into three parts: why rest naturally, how to rest naturally, and showing the benefits. First, why is it necessary to rest naturally? In "The Blazing Lamp," it says, "Having distinguished samsara and nirvana, rest the body, speech, and mind." And in "Space Clarity," it says, "Because the elements of body, speech, and mind are disturbed, rest them in order to liberate them." By distinguishing the samsara and nirvana of the outer, inner, and three doors, for the Dharma of samsara, whether it is the conceptual thought to be abandoned, or the Dharma that transcends antidotes, whether it is the arising of virtuous conceptual thought, whatever appearance manifests, focus awareness on it. Because the sensory consciousness is bound and not allowed to wander elsewhere, the consciousness gathers into the unity of the six consciousnesses. The thoughts that go to other places gradually subside, and conceptual thoughts transform, even transforming into non-conceptual thought. However, due to the application of special preliminary methods, initially, the conceptual thoughts are strongly suppressed, causing the elements and sources to be disturbed. If the mind does not rest, it will become an obstacle again, and it will be difficult to generate samadhi. Considering this, one does not focus on the objects of the six senses, nor does one discriminate between what should be abandoned and what should be practiced, but rests in its own nature.
