Thinking it is so, one should not add the clinging of attachment to it, but leave it without attachment, because it will naturally dissipate, so it is not tainted by antidotes. Even if negative thoughts, attachment, hatred, and the thoughts of the eight worldly concerns arise, one should not think, "This is bad," and not regret or reject them, but let them naturally dissolve and rest in their nature, because they will naturally purify, so there is no abandonment or transformation. Likewise, even if positive thoughts, the appearance of virtue, arise, the intrinsic nature of mind will not be transformed into good; even if negative thoughts, the appearance of non-virtue, arise, they will not be transformed into bad, and there is no difference in the nature of mind between sentient beings and Buddhas, so the nature is the Great Perfection. If one realizes such a nature, one will be in a state of equanimity without any acceptance or rejection, that is, the present acceptance and rejection, hope and fear, negation and affirmation, attachment and hatred. Thinking, "This is right, this is wrong," all the phenomena and various defilements bound by clinging to reality are non-existent. In the state of self-aware, naked, transparent, and vast expanse, everything is pure without acceptance or rejection, so existence is non-existence. At that time, the practice of self-aware nakedness is also of such a nature, like being blissful and relaxed, clear and bright, and being silent in the state of non-thought, etc. There is no expression of words, nor is it an object of mental thought, but for the yogi, at all times, self-awareness clearly and transparently arises, and each exists in the realm of self-aware wisdom, so it is the extreme of non-existence and existence. Thus, in the state of the nature of mind uncorrected, all aspects of clinging to the reality of objects naturally dissolve, so the nature of destroying all objects and being free from the bondage of clinging to reality is emptiness inseparable from awareness, so there is no need to seek the reversed emptiness that is made an object by the mind, so emptiness is the Great Perfection. If one does not understand in this way, all hopes for the emptiness fabricated by the mind will be reversed into emptiness on the appearance, and one will be bound by the skill, that is, the clinging of grasping emptiness, and one will continuously fabricate and examine, thinking that this is fabricated emptiness, wanting to be liberated from the mind. Such a person who continuously fabricates and wants to be liberated will slander such appearances and cling to emptiness, falling into the extreme of nihilism. If one regards emptiness as supreme and clings to reality, one will fall into the extreme of eternalism, thus unable to escape from the precipice of eternalism and nihilism. Then, is there liberation in the two extremes of eternalism and nihilism? For example, the combination of the four elements

Just as all containers and contents exist relying on the sky, yet the sky does not rely on anything, so too all dharmas exist relying on the dharmata of Dzogchen, yet the dharmata of Dzogchen does not rely on anything. Because there is no basis for reliance, it is without a basis. All dharmas of samsara and nirvana are produced by causes and conditions, yet the dharmata of Dzogchen has no root of production by anything, so it is rootless. That dharmata, which is without basis and root, is naturally present from the beginning, without any fabrication or adulteration, so it is the Dzogchen of original abiding. Those who do not understand how the naturally abiding, innate dharmata remains in its own state, some deliberately cultivate the clinging to emptiness, thinking that all dharmas are emptiness. Some grasp appearances as the essence of form, relying on meditations with signs, such as deities and bindus. Some assert that the ultimate dharmata is like this and that, clinging tightly to true examination, relying on conceptual imputation for meditation, and fabricating assertions. Some meditate on nihilism, claiming that since all dharmas are emptiness, there is no samsara or nirvana, no karma and result, and they deny existence. Thus, those who have not realized, grasping their various desires as the ultimate meaning, meditate on emptiness, appearance, existence, and non-existence. Those who engage in dualistic meditation created by the mind also possess views of sectarian attachment and engage in biased behavior of acceptance and rejection. Therefore, whoever has meditation has views and conduct. Those who rely on fabricated views and meditations lack the key point of original liberation, which is free from acceptance and rejection. They perceive samsara and nirvana as good and bad, and therefore possess existence. By grasping existence as true and making it something to be abandoned, they cannot abandon existence. Just as one cannot abandon a shadow without abandoning the body, one cannot abandon the suffering of samsara without abandoning the root of samsara, the clinging to truth. Therefore, there is the suffering of samsara. Similarly, those who cling to dualistic partiality are bound by various attachments to dharma and vehicles, thinking, "This is good," "This is bad," "This is our tradition," "This is another's tradition," "We are superior," "Others are inferior." Attachment, aversion, and conflict increase, so whoever has dharma has attachment to vehicles.
