Here, I will briefly explain the recognition of the Great Perfection and so on. So, what is the Great Perfection? This present awareness, clear, empty, and naked, free from all defilements, is called the Great Perfection. What is its etymological explanation? All phenomena, encompassing samsara and nirvana, are complete within this empty awareness, therefore it is called "completion." There is no other method more supreme than this for liberating from samsara, therefore it is called "great." What are the ground, path, and fruition? The original state, untouched by the concepts of samsara and nirvana, the naked state unpolluted by delusion, never deluded, not established as anything, yet the source of everything, this is called the ground. When this present awareness is relaxed and left as it is, a state of emptiness, free from the three thoughts of good, bad, and neutral, like the center of a clear sky, this is called the path. When all the qualities of the path are manifest, and ignorance and delusion are purified in their own place, and the Dharmadhatu is manifest, this is called the fruition. What are view, meditation, and action? Where is one's own mind located, inside or outside the body? What is its color and shape? By ascertaining it as it is, the emptiness that cannot be found, that is called the view. Within that view, sinking, excitement, and dullness, none of the three

Letting go of the mind without letting it be in control is called meditation. Expanding all appearances with that meditation and practicing skills is called conduct. What is the way to combine calm abiding and insight? When the mind's outward scattering is pacified and it abides inwardly, focused, that is called calm abiding. Recognizing its essence as naked awareness and emptiness is called insight. Furthermore, recognizing the essence from the state of abiding, and abiding focused from the state of awareness, that is called the union of calm abiding and insight. What are samadhi and post-meditation? In general, placing one's own awareness in this empty and clear state is called samadhi. Rising from that, knowing that all appearances are empty of inherent existence even though they appear is called post-meditation. In particular, in the Dzogchen self-tradition, abiding in the state of knowing the essence of whatever appears is called samadhi, and moving in the state of knowing the essence of whatever appears is called post-meditation. Therefore, cultivating virtue on top of whatever appears, and also abiding in the empty and clear essence of that is called samadhi, and from that state, the aspect of moving, such as transformation, is post-meditation. What is the difference between post-meditation and subsequent knowledge? What awareness has calculated is called post-meditation, and what it has not calculated is called subsequent knowledge. What is the meaning of saying that meditation, samadhi, and post-meditation are mixed? Without accepting or rejecting all good and bad appearances, not moving from this naked awareness and emptiness is called the mixing of samadhi and post-meditation. What is meant by saying that meditation is mixed day and night? Not having confusing appearances arise during the day, not having confusing dreams at night, whether one sleeps or not, not wavering from the basis of practice is called the mixing of meditation day and night. What are sinking, excitement, and dullness? When the body and mind are tired and the clarity of awareness becomes loose, that is called sinking. Focusing on any pleasing object, craving arises for that object, and cutting off the middle of abiding, that is called excitement. Being confused about one's own object, both body and mind feel heavy and cannot be used, that is called dullness. What are mindfulness and awareness? Not forgetting the object that has been determined before, remembering it clearly in the mind
