The Ritual of the Four Mandalas of Tara, the Adornment of the Dragon King's Intent. The Ritual of the Four Mandalas of Tara, the Adornment of the Dragon King's Intent. ༄༅། ། The Ritual of the Four Mandalas of Tara, the Adornment of the Dragon King's Intent, resides here. That lotus of her name, the stem hanging from her earlobe, the opposite of the eight fears, is determined only by this, so I prostrate. Here, pacifying all adverse conditions such as the eight great fears and sixteen others, the ritual of the Four Mandalas of Tara is in three parts: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. First, in a clean and pleasing place such as a temple or monastery, arrange the general representations of the Three Jewels, and especially arrange a blessed image of the venerable mother. Place four mandalas at the four corners, and five offerings in rows on the four walls. Also, arrange as appropriate the torma, white and round, adorned with the three white and three sweet substances, in four sets. In addition, prepare bathing equipment such as a vase filled with essence, and offerings to sustain each set. Second, the main practice is in two parts: accumulating merit based on the common deities, and accumulating merit based on the specific venerable Tara. The first has eleven sections. First, one should bathe oneself and abide in cleanliness, taking refuge and generating the aspiration: To the best of the Buddhas, the Dharma, and the Sangha, etc., recite the verse three times. Second, taking the Bodhisattva Vows: May all sentient beings have happiness and the causes of happiness, etc., meditate on the four immeasurables three times. Until the essence of enlightenment, I take refuge in the Buddhas, and likewise, I take refuge in the Dharma and the assembly of Bodhisattvas. Having taken refuge three times, as the previous Sugatas generated the mind of enlightenment and gradually dwelt in the precepts of the Bodhisattvas, so too, for the benefit of beings, I will generate the mind of enlightenment, and likewise, I will train in the precepts in stages. After three times: Today my life has fruit, I have well obtained this human existence, today I am born into the Buddha family, I have become a child of the Buddha, today before all the protectors,
