Etc. By the power of karma, rebirth occurs, and virtuous deeds do not lead to bad destinies, which shows that only non-virtuous deeds have power, which is what "person" means. With the imprints of karma, relying on this and that, becoming like this and that, for the attraction of the ripening cause of non-virtue, from this and that arises the body of a bad destiny, like this and that. The second verse very clearly shows the power of karma. The so-called "making it completely transform" refers to engaging in various harms and comparisons. The so-called "inferior way of conduct" refers to deceptive behavior that shows extreme pity, etc. The so-called "accomplishing with heat, high temperature, and roughness" means accomplishing the desired intention with such medicine. The so-called "that is increased by cool, soft, sweet, etc. medicines" refers to this. The so-called "what else is meaningless besides that" refers to harboring harm towards those who are of great benefit, which is ingratitude, hence the saying. The so-called "not liking qualities" means that even if one does not oppose patience, who has the ability? Connect it like that. The so-called "unruly from behavior, if not tamed," and "from thought, if the vow of patience is not abandoned," connect it like that. The so-called "the happiness of harming others, or wanting to prevent the arising of suffering," for that, means that harming others, wanting to gain happiness for oneself, or wanting to prevent the arising of suffering for oneself, this will not succeed, so the wise do not do that, these are the last two sentences. Thus, after showing patience for one's own benefit, etc., to show the necessity of transforming into the benefit of others, it is the verse starting from "therefore." Therefore, I abide in patience, and teach with methods, but if they do not understand, it means that even to those who are causing harm, one is actually teaching patience, this is the concluding statement. Even if it is not beneficial to them, others will abide in patience, because there are other minor patiences. So it says, "these turn them back from the wrong path," that is, this is not for the benefit of those who are causing harm, but for the benefit of the arising of impatience in those who are causing harm. Because it benefits both self and others, such people will despise

Having done that, someone like me would not do that either, meaning that even though someone like me is capable of harming others, they would not do that kind of harm. If the other person also sees the fault, they will not do that again in the future, so I will be liberated from that harm. This is the Buffalo Jataka, the thirty-third. "Become nectar" means: become immortal. Like bestowing favor on the ungrateful, like a Bandhu flower. It means that just as the flowers of the Bandhu tree do not bear fruit, bestowing favor on the wicked does not produce benefit; this is a common saying. Having washed the body with virtues and fame, will it not be like acting like an elephant? It means that this is the fault of wasting what came before. If harm is done to the benefactor, then both the merit of the benefactor and the friend of the benefactor will be lost. Just as an elephant enters a lake to wash away the dirt from its body, but then mixes with sand because it is thirsty, it is like wasting what came before. Revealing the fault of ingratitude is the verse "the other." Even if the other person has a fault, one's self is without fault, that is "in this," and so on. This is the Bird Ostrich Jataka, the thirty-fourth. The explanation of the difficult points in the words of the continuum of the Jataka stories is completed. Composed by the teacher Viryasimha is completed. The difficult explanation of the continuum of the Jataka stories, Viryasimha.
