Po is referred to as the second vowel. The third vowel is Pluta. Through the reasoning of the second vowel, Pluta can be expressed. High tones are called Udatta. Any letter that is expressed with a high tone is Udatta. Low tones are called Anudatta. Any letter that is to be expressed with a low tone is Anudatta. They are Paramasvarita. From Udatta and Anudatta, the intermediate or combined, and equal tones, become Svarita. At that time, any letter that is expressed with a tone other than high and low tones is called Svarita. One's own place and following nasal sounds and not following nasal sounds. One's own place is one's own position, and the place with nasal sounds is the letter. Following one's own place is following nasal sounds, and not following nasal sounds is being without the place of nasal sounds. The end point is two distinctions. Understanding through two distinctions, namely Ya, Ra, La, Va. How so? Including those with and without nasal sounds, as mentioned before. What is known through jealousy and stinginess, should be followed well. For things of right view, characteristics that are not possessed should be abandoned. Because seeking the benefit of others, obtained from the wisdom of the guru, and the virtuous deeds done by the wise themselves, are to be accepted. Here, the root text of letters has been commented upon, through the accumulation of small virtuous deeds, may the suffering of beings wandering in the great ocean of samsara be pacified. The commentary on the root text of letters by Tsongkhapa Chandrapa is completed. This was written by the great teacher Chandra Gomi, who pervaded the entire Jambudvipa, covered by the immaculate white umbrella of fame, and attained supreme accomplishments. Previously, it seemed not to have been translated, because of the kindness of the all-knowing Shalu great translator Dharmapala Bhadra, the sole eye of all beings in the snowy land, having obtained a portion of the faculty of discrimination, Ngawang Rinchen Tashi Pal Zangpo, who merely holds the name of Kyokton translator, completed it in the fish month of the Fire Mouse year (1456), called 'Holding'.

In the sleeping chamber of Pal Drathang, according to the command of the venerable Lama himself to "translate this," it was translated from the Indian and Chinese texts of Pang Lotsawa, and all misunderstandings and misinterpretations were corrected by referring to the words of the great translator. Later, in a place called Khara, on the second day of the waxing moon of the Wo month in the Iron Female Hare year (1351), in Chongzhag Zur in the Nyangpo region, near the great Karma pa Dharma community of Jamyang Gyepai Tsuklak Khang, the translator himself slightly revised and finalized it by referring to the Chinese text, and the scribe was named Ananda Vajra, who speaks of grammar. May this also benefit the Buddha's teachings and immeasurable sentient beings! A commentary on the text scripture of the predictor Chandrapa. Chandragomin.
