Commentary on Uṇa and others. Commentary on Uṇa and others. Herein lies the commentary on Uṇa and others. In Sanskrit: Uṇādi-vṛtti. In Tibetan: Commentary on Uṇa and others. Homage to the glorious lord of speech, youthful Mañjuśrī. To the speech of the maker of the streams of sound on earth, having paid homage, for the sake of children understanding distinctions, Uṇa and others become effective. Having paid homage, and so forth, is for the sake of pacifying obstacles. Therefore, homage is paid by uttering words of praise to Sarasvatī. What is the special distinction? The streams of sound on earth are the makers. The sounds of those on earth, of the sounds on earth. Which stream is the one that enters without being definitely determined? The maker is the cause. Because the nature of speech is understood, therefore only Sarasvatī can transform it greatly. Here, Sarasvatī is also the embodied one, and it is explicitly intended by the one to be paid homage. Having relied on Sarasvatī, what is the accomplishment desired to be achieved? It is said: Uṇa and others become effective. The first of the conditions is Uṇa, thus connecting the words. Becoming effective means that it becomes the maker, thus explicitly relating to the maker. Are Kāru and others not the ones that make individual sounds understood, thus entering into the meaning of certainty? It is also not to be regarded as the meaning of the parts of these. How is it that the term "maker" here has the meaning of making, and the one who accomplishes is also to be understood in three ways, even in the uncertain? It is not so. It has been said that the sound of Kāru cannot be individually understood, but this is the special one spoken by Śiva. The maker and the made are also not special, but are common makers. Therefore, what is the use of this individual understanding of these? Likewise, it is also explained by the commentator: Like wood and other friends, various actions are recited here. Kṛtāḥ, kṛtraḥ, the meaning of wood and others, it is also explicitly acknowledged that it is not the individual understanding of the maker. The commentator
