First, when a lama bestows upon a disciple, any wealth that is sent forth is unmatched in value on this earth. Giving nurture and good teachings, as well as giving wisdom, giving food, and giving fearlessness, these five are said to be fathers. The wives of kings and ministers, likewise, the wives of friends, the wives of brothers, these five are said to be mothers. Advice to fools only leads to conflict and does not bring peace. Feeding milk to a snake only increases its venom. The two-legged livestock that is obvious, one should completely avoid fools. Like a thorn that is not seen, one is harmed by the sting of words. When a fool sees another fool, it is cooler than sandalwood. If one sees a wise person, it feels like killing one's father. Doing good to an evil person, one receives no reward for what is done. Even a little respect for a holy person brings freedom as long as one lives. A fool is like a mark on water, whatever is done quickly disappears. A holy person is like a mark on stone, even if very small, it remains firm. A person with an evil heart who speaks sweetly cannot be trusted. A peacock makes beautiful sounds, but eats great poison as food. Alas, the nature of evil people and bile is similar. Gentleness becomes conflict, while roughness brings peace. Evil people and gold and copper, untamed horses and arrogant women, are tamed by beating, they are not vessels for doing good. Being with evil people, enmity or friendship is not beautiful. A house is for playing, and extra decorations do not make it beautiful. Even with illusion, one cannot tame the wicked. A venomous snake can be calmed with medicine and mantras, but a wicked person cannot be calmed in any way. The fault of a wicked person is to follow by nature. Anyone who mixes with the wicked becomes more wicked than the wicked. Even if one does not see the father's actions, the son will follow. From the seed of a Ketaka tree, the fruit of Emblica will not grow. Fathers and mothers, as well as brothers, wives, and other followers, whatever sins they commit are the same as what that person has done. This earth, together with the great ocean and mountains, is not a burden, but whatever is done

The untamed, that is an extremely heavy burden. Abiding together with those who hold vows, delighting in benefiting all beings. Whoever is the fear of Yama, that is praised by the wise. Together with the wise and the tamed, content, truthful speakers, even dwelling in prison is a superior dwelling, not a kingdom within the untamed. Associate with the holy ones, converse with the wise, befriend the non-greedy, actions will not decline. Even in an extremely long time, by what in this world and, in other places one will not obtain suffering, the mind should be in accordance with Dharma. Even if the mind is happy, what use is harmful ripening? By what agitates the body, what use is delicious food? Even if harmful, it can turn into beneficial, the wise should drink it like medicine, the fruit of this is subsequently obtained, it will become incomparable. In this meaning, if the king who possesses lineage, performs the gathering, in the beginning, middle, and end, that will not change. It is said that at the time of the ocean's destruction, it will transgress the scriptures, even if the holy one dies, he will never deviate from the principles. The treatise on ethics called "The Tree of Wisdom," the second chapter composed by the teacher Nagarjuna, is translated separately and completed. The translator Shilen Dra Bodhi and, the Pandit Yeshe De translated, revised, and finalized it. The treatise on ethics called "The Tree of Wisdom." Nagarjuna.
