A Commentary Called "The Door of Speech Like a Weapon" Dranpa Yeshe Drakpa A Commentary Called "The Door of Speech Like a Weapon" Dranpa Yeshe Drakpa In Sanskrit: Vācanamukhayudhobhamanāmapṛtti. In Tibetan: A Commentary Called "The Door of Speech Like a Weapon." Homage to the Supreme Speaker, the All-Knowing One! Here, since it is desired to compose a treatise, in order to dispel obstacles and to accord with the customs of the virtuous, homage is paid first, and in order to understand the necessity, after vowing what is to be explained, in order to excellently show the treatise itself, and also to make the composed treatise become of great meaning, the root of virtue is practiced along with dedication. Among these, this treatise itself also shows the collection of letters, the collection of names, and the collection of words, and if the branches of these are summarized as they are shown, then they are shown by their causes, their own nature, their measure, their definitive words, and their distinctions. Among these, in order to briefly show the homage here, it is said, "Having paid homage to the chief of speakers." It is said that the chief of those who speak with reason, such as ascetics, Brahmins, gods, and demons, is the Buddha, so it is shown that having paid homage to him, it will be explained. Why? Because the vows and so forth are shown by "For the sake of perfecting the limbs of speech." The necessity here is for the sake of accomplishing the complete meaning of all the causes and conditions of speech. What is it? It is said, "The collection of verbal actions," that the action of speech is action, and its collection is the cause and condition. It is said that I will explain that. Now, showing the treatise itself, first the letters are shown, and also in order to show how sound arises from the general and particular places, in conjunction with the agent, it is said, "Belly, throat, palate, and tongue, nose and crown, teeth and lips, in the general and each part, contact and slight contact, from narrow and wide, straight and curved, praise and disparagement, tight and loose sounds arise." It is said that among these, "general" is from where to here

In general terms, it is called "arising." For example, the sound of a lute comes from all its parts, such as the body, skin, strings, and pegs. Similarly, the sound of letters arises from the combination of these places of articulation. The term "individual aspects" refers to how the sound of a lute, for instance, produces male sounds from male strings and female sounds from female strings. Likewise, each of these places of articulation largely produces the sound of its respective letter. These details will be understood when explained later. The four terms "contact and slight contact, contraction and expansion" are the conditions for articulation. For example, just as the sound of a lute changes when plucked with fingernails and a bow, the sound changes in these places of articulation due to conditions such as contact. These will also be understood in detail later. What kind of sounds arise from these? The text mentions "straight, raised, and bent," and so on. This indicates that the combination of places and conditions of articulation gives rise to the seven roots of vowels. These seven sounds, such as straight, are the roots of speech formation. Among them, straight is अ (藏文,梵文天城体a,梵文罗马拟音a,汉语字面意思:阿). These seven sounds are the characteristics of all speech and are naturally formed letters. All syllables pronounced with ka and so on also arise from these. The rest are combinations of each other. How so? इ (藏文,梵文天城体i,梵文罗马拟音i,汉语字面意思:伊) itself contracted and combined with a tsek-drag (stress mark) is ऋ (藏文,梵文天城体ṛ,梵文罗马拟音ṛ,汉语字面意思:热). इ (藏文,梵文天城体i,梵文罗马拟音i,汉语字面意思:伊) itself relaxed and drawn out is ऌ (藏文,梵文天城体ḷ,梵文罗马拟音ḷ,汉语字面意思:勒). Therefore, they are combined with each other. The syllables of ka and so on also have roots and combinations. य (藏文) is the combination of इ (藏文,梵文天城体i,梵文罗马拟音i,汉语字面意思:伊) and अ (藏文,梵文天城体a,梵文罗马拟音a,汉语字面意思:阿). व (藏文) is the combination of उ (藏文,梵文天城体u,梵文罗马拟音u,汉语字面意思:乌) and अ (藏文,梵文天城体a,梵文罗马拟音a,汉语字面意思:阿). र (藏文) and ल (藏文) are as explained above. श (藏文), ष (藏文), and स (藏文) are similar to र (藏文) and combined with a tsek-drag. ङ (藏文), ञ (藏文), ण (藏文), न (藏文), and म (藏文) are the five nasals, included in अं (藏文,梵文天城体aṃ,梵文罗马拟音aṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡). Therefore, for the time being, there are twenty-five root letters. Among these, the third group of letters, ga and so on
