From the habit of essence, just as desire is inexhaustible, similarly, for the essence of duality, habit will not exhaust duality. Falsely fabricating things in the mind, meditating on no-self and so on, for non-duality there are only words, without meaning, those are not meditation. Constant clinging is all afflictions, impermanence quickly passes into peace, from all clinging liberation, attaining the state of Buddha, without a doubt. All clinging is absent, all is without action, without diligence and effort, one can also expect to become a Buddha. Therefore, compassion for sentient beings, benefiting them, and skillful means, from meditating on conditioned impermanence, one attains the state of Sugata. For a mind that is merely words, how can giving and so on be perfected? Because there is nothing to give, therefore, the state of Buddha is also impossible. If it is said to be mutual interaction, from clear cognition, in the manner of giving and receiving, if it is said that the mind arises from this, that is not proven by direct perception, inference, and trustworthy words, that is merely speculation, just a vain proclamation. The consciousness with the aspect of giving, even if accustomed to it for hundreds and thousands of lifetimes, however, it will not liberate any sentient being from poverty. What yogis think in their minds, whenever they practice immeasurably, at that time, happiness and suffering, will not be obtained and truly cease. Giving everything to all beings, perfecting giving with compassion, there is no difference from possessing wealth, therefore, not giving is wrong. The relics and corpses of those who have completely passed away, houses and deities, whatever is seen, how does it arise from the power of others? If it is said to be from the maturation of one's own continuum, how can one infer that it has passed away? If one cannot infer that it has passed away, then it is too mundane. The pure relics of the Shravaka liberators, seeing the relics of those without desire, if one cannot infer, how does reverence arise? If it is said to be through lineage, seeing living limbs, if that is not his power, then how about the completely passed away? The worldly rules exist, seeds and so on produce sprouts and so on, this is not suitable for the Mind-Only school. If it is said that consciousness follows at the end,

Knowing that it will definitely arise, That cause is that effect of it, It is not necessarily existent either, Like this, the consciousness of fire, Without it, the thought of smoke arises. Even on a mind without seeds, There is also the thought of the sprout appearing. If the mind imbued with the consciousness of fire, Is the cause of the mind of smoke, When many abilities exist, How can one distinguish the differences? The fire's consciousness is the immediate cause, If it is the cause of the mind of smoke, That is also uncertain whether it is good or bad, The intention of fire is not certain in the mind of smoke. If the connection is not fully established, How can it be from this and not from that? If the terms are not mixed in the cause, How can it enter? Therefore, relying on examination, The three realms are only mind, Everything is well explained, Not because there is no form, etc. Where attachment, etc., arise, After manifestly realizing through examination, For the sake of pacifying faults, Therefore, the selflessness of objects is taught. Likewise, how is it in others? As children discriminate, It is said that external objects are not truly existent. Why is this distinction made? From immediately teaching that, From manifestly clinging to the agent, It is fully understood in all actions, Therefore, it is said that the agent is negated. Likewise, in other teachings, It is said that discrimination and various discriminations, And the nature of phenomena is form, The nature of phenomena is its own characteristic, Things are merely discriminations, Various discriminations are distinctions. This distinction of the nature of phenomena, Is not possible if there are no things. If it is said that form is emptiness, How are form and sound in that? If it is taught by discriminating, What is the desired result? Where there is an undeceiving existence, Therefore, that is truly existent. Not only from everything being non-existent, Is it apprehended like a dream. Those who speak of external objects as real, Say this to those who speak only of mind, Is this reasonable or unreasonable? I request the wise to examine. When examining what is reasonable and unreasonable, I do not have a wonderful intellect of a wise person, However, the truth spoken by others, Is taught briefly in many ways. With the light of knowledge, the darkness of ignorance Is destroyed, manifested by the wise, May the great beings who have reached the other shore today, Lead foolish beings onto the path. The chapter on the words establishing the meaning of external objects.
