Commentary on the Science of Debate, Subduing God. Commentary on the Science of Debate. Subduing God. In Sanskrit: Vādanyāyatīkā (वाद न्याय टीका). In Tibetan: Commentary on the Science of Debate. Homage to the Lord of Speech. Homage to the one who speaks the ultimate meaning. Whoever skillfully achieves debate with reason, Fully endowed with patience, compassion, generosity, and gentleness, To that supreme knower of reason, I pay homage, And shall explain the science of debate according to the scriptures. 'With causes in debates.' This first statement and so on, shows the connection of this exposition, the necessity of what is to be said, what is to be said, and the necessity of the necessity of the necessity. Otherwise, if those who prioritize contemplation in the exposition of necessities and so on are not made a part of them, then what is the use of this exposition here? If contemplation does not arise, then what is the necessity of this exposition? What is called connection? If it is not stated, then in the exposition, if joy does not arise, what is the part that causes one to engage in listening and thinking again? Therefore, in order to generate joy in the listeners who prioritize contemplation, the words of the connection of the exposition and so on should undoubtedly be well stated. Thus, in order to refute that meaning, what is to be said and the necessity are actually shown here. Thus, the sound of 'this' and 'that,' as it is immediately shown, is that those who attack with illusion are not true and are refuted, and those have been examined. The latter of those has also been eliminated. Therefore, what is to be said is shown by that sound. If so, does this exposition also show the means of what is to be said? How does one who debates with reason abandon the establishment of things that are not true and only show what is to be said? If that is the case, then why does the illusionist, the other who debates with reason, cause them to fail, and therefore the author, with extreme displeasure, cannot bear the failure of those who debate with reason and refute it?

It is shown that it should be said. Thus, if it is not a part of establishing other general meanings, and it initially shows not mentioning faults, then, refuting with reason is knowing one's own nature, because it is able to comfortably know the place of refuting with reason, so it initially shows the place of refuting with reason. The word "for the sake of refuting" shows the necessity. Because with untrue imputation, the cunning one refutes, it is merely said to be refuting. However, here merely refuting is also meaningless, if it is thought that refuting itself is the result, however, if that is the case, is knowing the difference of things itself also the result? The characteristic of completely knowing the place of refuting with reason is, whenever, those cunning ones refuting themselves in this way, it appears to want to be necessary here, even so, whenever the cunning one refutes those skilled in reason with unreason, completely knowing the difference of things also comes along as a side effect of the result, so it should also be understood as the result itself here. If the cunning one truly establishes it as a close arrangement, then there is no harm. Therefore, showing that refuting is what appears to want to be the result. The word "composed here" shows the connection. Thus, for the sake of refuting the cunning ones and so on, this is the meaning of composing this treatise. The treatise is shown as a method of eliminating the cunning ones and so on. Even so, refuting with untruth is necessary. The treatise is the method, and the treatise and the necessity are the connection of the nature of the method and what arises from the method, and the connection of the nature of the agent and what is to be established, this is thus the nature of cause and effect. Thus, the treatise is the establisher, what is to be established is the result, the cause is the treatise, and the result is what is desired. Therefore, for the sake of refuting untruth and so on, it is established that this treatise is composed. When it is established in this way, sometimes some.

If someone asks, refuting the near arrangement of untrue establishments, etc. The refuter should sometimes not be approached, just like examining the teeth of a crow, one will also cling to non-existent things. Therefore, this is proclaimed in order to refute with reasoners, and for those who speak of the reason for establishing untrue near arrangements, to subdue them with this, therefore the necessity of what is established is the meaning of language. Because, for the reasoners, with false and unreasonable ones, therefore one can overcome. How can the false reasoner protect against being overcome, in order to subdue the untrue establishment, to distinguish well, this is the meaning of all that is gathered. For the reasoners who are empty of the meaning of the limbs, the word "reason" here, mainly speaks of the valid means, therefore "non-reason" should be added. Or, for the worldly people who are extremely established, the meaning of establishing with reason is the meaning of the word "reason." Even so, whoever speaks of the meaning established by reason is a reasoner, this is established in the world. This is also because reason takes meaning as its object, therefore it is called reason. Just as blue and other meanings, because they are manifest, are called manifest. If this is the case, whoever speaks of the meaning established by reason is called a speaker of reason, this is established in the world. This meaning is also the object of reason, therefore it is called reason, just as blue and other meanings are the object of the manifest. Manifest proclamation, this is also one who can debate with reason, here it is called a reasoner. If there is no valid means of speaking, then it is not the meaning of a reasoner. If the word "reason" should also proclaim both the manifest and the inferential, even so, one should enter into the specific aspect with the power of the occasion, therefore, what is close to reason is inference, not the manifest, therefore the debate does not follow the manifest. Or, debating the meaning established by reason
