A Treatise on Establishing Other Continuums. A Treatise on Establishing Other Continuums. In Sanskrit: Santānānyatarasiddhināmaprakaraṇa. In Tibetan: A Treatise on Establishing Other Continuums. Homage to youthful Mañjuśrī! If, having seen one's own actions preceded by mind, one then, for the sake of apprehending them in others, knows the mind, this principle is the same for Mind-Only. If, having seen in oneself actions and speech preceded by mental agitation, one infers agitation in others by seeing those things, this principle is the same for Mind-Only. Therefore, those who assert Mind-Only can also infer the minds of others, for they do not want there to be such consciousnesses that appear as physical and verbal expressions without the distinction of being agitated by other consciousnesses. If you say that because the actions of others' consciousnesses are not observed, it is not permissible to infer others, it is not because of similarity. Since the opponent has never seen those things that are preceded by others' consciousnesses, he will not know them either. If you say, "How can one know the minds of others, since one's own mind cannot be the cause of what is in others?" How can it not be? Because one has never individually and truly experienced one's own motivating mind, and because the basis of one's own mind is also seen in oneself. If those things were also like that, then they would become visible like that. But since they are seen as not being like that, if you say that it is establishing another cause, then it is the same for others. Since one has not truly experienced one's own motivating mind, it is similar. And since the consciousness that appears as an expression is also caused by the agitation of one's own mind, it is understood by the appearance of looking inward. Therefore, the appearances of looking outward should arise from other causes. If you say, "Why not want the appearances of looking outward to be only without cause?" If it were without cause, then everything would necessarily become a cause. The difference made by appearing as interrupted and uninterrupted is not what distinguishes the cause of pure consciousness, the difference of agitation itself. Therefore, uninterruptedly
