Or, because it is free from attachment, it shows the knowledge of constellations, etc., such as the king of cows and the patterns of trees, etc. From dissimilar examples, the dharma to be established is not omniscience, and doubt arises from the contradiction of not trusting these two. Regarding doubting the contradiction from establishment, for example, a three-knowing Brahmin should not accept the speech of some people, because they possess desire, etc. Here, the dissimilar examples are those speeches that should be accepted, which do not possess desire, etc., such as the Dharma treatises made by Gautama, etc. From Gautama, etc., doubt arises from the contradiction of possessing desire, etc., in the established dharma. Regarding doubting the contradiction from both, for example, the Samkhyas, etc., are not free from attachment because they possess clinging and universal clinging. Here, the dissimilar example is that those who are free from attachment do not have clinging and universal clinging, such as the king of cows, etc. Regarding the dharma to be established and the established dharma, namely being free from attachment itself, and clinging and universal clinging, doubt arises from the contradiction from the king of cows, etc. There is no contradiction, for example, because of speaking, one is not free from attachment. Those who do not have non-attachment are not speakers, like a piece of stone. If there is a contradiction from the piece of stone, however, all those who are free from attachment are not speakers, because the establishment of universal contradiction is not established, so there is no contradiction. Not well showing the contradiction, the dissimilar dharma, for example, sound is impermanent because it is produced, like space. The reversed contradiction, for example, whatever is not produced is permanent, like this. These similar examples, the common characteristic of the reason, exists in the similar aspect, and does not exist in all dissimilar aspects, or the individual aspect.

It cannot be established. Therefore, it should be understood that those are eliminated by the power of meaning. What is said as 'incomplete' etc., are refutations. Whatever is stated as the cause of the previous establishment being incomplete etc., those statements are refutations, because they hinder the accomplishment of the meaning desired by the opponent. The seemingly refuting ones are the sophists, and the statements of faults that are not true are the sophists. This concludes the third chapter, the chapter on inference for the sake of others. This concludes the treatise called 'A Drop of Reasoning'. It was translated, revised, and finalized by the Pandit Parahita Bhadra and others, and the Tibetan translator Lodan Sherab.
