Moreover, since it possesses eye consciousness, it does not think, "Knowing blue is blue." It is said in the sutras, do not regard things as things, do not regard things as dharma. If it is not one, then how can these five consciousnesses, when gathered together, focus on the object? If it is said that the nature of any āyatana (སྐྱེ་མཆེད་, Sanskrit: āyatana, Romanized Sanskrit: āyatana, literal meaning: place of birth) is that each has its own nature as its object, and not the nature of matter, then how is this said? Because there it is produced by many things. Self-meaning is the realm of the common characteristic. Because it is produced by many substances, it is said that one's own āyatana is the realm of the common characteristic, but not from perceiving difference as non-difference. This meaning is spoken: A dharma possessing the nature of multiplicity cannot be realized from the senses. If it is not indicated by its own knowledge and name, it is not the object of the senses. Thus, for the time being, although the direct perception consciousness arising from the five senses is without conceptualization, this is a distinction made here based on the wishes of others; they are entirely without conceptualization. The mind also, with regard to objects and attachment, etc., is self-aware and without conceptualization. The mind also engages in the manner of observing and experiencing objects such as form, and is entirely without conceptualization. Desire, hatred, ignorance, pleasure, and pain, etc., because they do not rely on the senses, are self-aware direct perception. Similarly, the gurus of the yogis see only the difference in the meaning that is indicated. The yogis also see only the meaning that is unmixed with conceptualization from the scriptures, which is direct perception. For the time being, if the self-awareness of desire, etc., is direct perception, then will conceptual consciousness also become direct perception? This is true, conceptualization is also considered self-awareness. In reality, it is not so, because it is conceptual. Even if its object is not direct perception like desire, etc., there is no fault of self-awareness. These are direct perception. Mistaken and conventional consciousness, as well as inference and that which arises from inference, which are called memory and manifest desire, are all apparent direct perception, accompanied by vagueness. For the time being, mistaken consciousness refers to regarding mirages, etc., as water, etc.

Due to conceptualization, it appears like direct perception. Things that exist conventionally, because they are truly imputed, therefore, examining their nature and entering, they appear like direct perception. Knowledge such as subsequent inference and its result is not direct perception because of conceptualizing what has been previously experienced. Here also it says: Because of understanding with action, it is considered the fruit of valid cognition. Here, unlike the outsiders, the fruit does not become a different thing from valid cognition, but the knowledge that has become the fruit arises with the aspect of the object, and understanding with action, taking that, it is considered valid cognition itself, and it is not without action. For example, when the fruit arises in accordance with the cause, it is called holding the image of the cause. Just as it is not without action, so it is here as well. For self-awareness, here also is the fruit. Knowledge arises from two appearances, namely, one's own appearance and the appearance of the object. From those two appearances, whichever is related to wisdom, that becomes the fruit. Why? Because things are determined from its nature. When knowledge is associated with the object of meaning, then, whether one wants self-awareness that is in accordance with it or not, one can understand the meaning of things. When only the external object is made the object of measurement, then the appearance of the object is this. At that time of valid cognition, even if knowledge is self-awareness, this appearance is valid cognition because it does not depend on the meaning of one's own nature. Why? Because things are measured by it. In whatever way the aspects of things appear, such as white and non-white, when they appear in knowledge, it measures the nature associated with the object in that way. Therefore, in whatever way the knowledge of knowing various aspects is taken, in that way it is established as valid cognition and object of measurement, because all phenomena are separate from action. It is said: When the aspect is the object of measurement, valid cognition and its fruit, holders, because of that reason, these three should not be distinguished. If knowledge has two ways, then how should it be understood? That is, knowledge of the object and knowledge of it. In a differentiated way, wisdom has two ways: the object is form, etc., and what knows it? That is, meaning and self-appearance. Knowledge of the object is what

It is the consciousness that conforms to the object, consciousness is appearance, and self-appearance. If it is not like that, if form itself becomes self-consciousness or its own nature, then this will also become no different from object-consciousness. The consciousness that arises later will also not manifest the object that has long passed, why? Because it is not an object. Therefore, it is established that consciousness has two ways. From later memory as well, it is related to "two ways." Why, in the consciousness of other objects, does the memory of later experience also arise? Therefore, it is also established that there are two ways of consciousness. Self-awareness is also the same. Why? Because there is nothing unexperienced here. There is no memory of seeing meaning without experience. Just like the memory of form and so on. If, like form and so on, consciousness is also experienced by others? That is also not reasonable, why? If consciousness is experienced by others, then "endless." "Endless" means, if consciousness is experienced by consciousness. How? For it there is also memory, if consciousness is experienced by other consciousness, then for it one must also see later memory. Therefore, if it is also experienced by other consciousness, then it will become endless. Similarly, transferring to other objects, does not exist, that is also seeing. Therefore, one must undoubtedly acknowledge self-aware consciousness. It is also established as abiding in the state of fruition itself. In this way, it is separated from direct realization. After that, one should examine the direct perception made by others, not by the debater. It is definitely considered meaningless. Otherwise, it will be said to be a part. Therefore, I will examine it. Debate establishment is not made by the teacher Dignāga. Because debate establishment is considered meaningless for the teacher, if it is not like that, it will be considered a part. Therefore, I will also examine the valid means and so on a little. The consciousness arising from that meaning, here it is said "is direct perception," if one says "this meaning" to everything, then which is not born only from it? If you say "in that,"
